A few years ago I went to an airshow in red wing MN, They had a lot of old WWII pilots who you could talk to and buy books photos paintings etc from. I talked to this one German pilot, and purchased a picture of him and his plane now I want to build his plane but I cant remember his name, read the signature well enough to Google or have adequate references. any help would be greatly appreciated.
I think it is an A-8/R-2 because of the extra glass on the canopy

Seeing as I have the autographs of many of the still living luftwaffe pilots that come to shows and such I can tell you that I am 90% sure the pilot who’s signed that was Oscar Boesch. He few black 14 along with many other 190’s. I think he was shot down like 8 times if my memory still working. I have a pic both a recent pic of him and one in 1944 If that would help. Don’t take this info as 100% accurate I’m going from memory only right now . If you need more info on him or think I am in error let me know and I’ll do some digging. I pretty sure I’m right.
thanks, that sounds correct from what I remember. and it fits the signature. I just could not seam to et the corect spelling from it.
Now I’m a 100% sure as I have the same photo and sig. as you do.
Glad I could make myself useless, no,no I mean useful. [:)]
Phoenix- Man, you do know your Luftwaffe! I am very impressed with your knowledge and resources on the matter.
Shot down 8 times? Those Germans must have had some sweet parachutes…
That picture is incredible! I can’t wait to see the plane with it. Good luck!
Excellent photo…and autographed too…outstanding.
RadMax8 is right - there were actually quite a fair number of high scoring Luftwaffe aces who were shot down a number of times…after all, they were usually shot down over German occupied territory.
I mean, even Gunther Rall was shot down like 8 times…and his final tally was 275 a/c shot down…
Gerd Barkhorn (301 victories-all on the Eastern Front) was shot down 9 times during WWll…
The reception committee on the ground makes all the difference in the world…
Thanks daywalker, I try to help out when I can. I have access to alot of info some most others do not. I also have 10 years worth of info in my personal collection. You just buttering me up because you want to see those cool rare photos of that ta 152c I have[:D]. If I get a chance I’ll load up few. I have the origninal plans from focke wulf for this varient.
I checked it out, and he was shot out of the air 8 times. 4 bail outs 4 crash landing. I remember this becasue when I was talking to him he mentioned that and that he got injured in one of those low level crashes. He has some real good stories. His unit suffered a 350% loss rate near the end of the war. I believe he was one of the only survivors of his unit. Some luftwaffe pilots have been shot down 10 or more times during the war. I think it might be him who tells the story of being in combat with 4 P-51’s and 2 P-47 at the SAME TIME. I’ll have to check on that.
That was not my intention, but, since you mentioned it…[:-^]
