WHOOT!!! KC-135A

I’m in a great mood after this weekend. I attended Omacon '07, and to my surprise, I won a lot. But I was most surprised to have my KC-135A take first in the multi-engine jet catagory. So…I figured I share with you all.

Hey, congrats to you! Pretty nice bird you got there! And a pretty cool trophy. Great job!

Conratulations and well done! That is a beautiful build!

You not only got that great looking plaque, but an even better trophy is that great looking KC-135 that you get to take home and keep! Really nice, looks great with the cargo and crew doors opened up.

Congats on teh win and nice build.

Congrats!! [bow]

Congratulations![tup]

thanks guys. This was the only aircraft I entered, the rest were either figures, helos, and one armor. All took home prizes, but this was the only 1st place. and I was so shocked about it. It got a lot of looks and comments since it is a bird based out of Souix City, just north of Omaha.

Viper,

That is a seriously awesome build – congrats on the prize!

I’m curious to know how much detailing you did on the interior. I currently have a KC-135R in the stash and want to do the same configuration you have – displaying it with the cargo door open and showing off that cavernous interior. Have any reference pics or in-progress shots?

I also need to replace Heller’s French ([yuck]) decals. Is your air force lettering from the kit, or aftermarket?

Many thanks,
Andy

Hey Snake,

I used a long out of production PE set [mostly interior]. I recommend finding some seatbelts at least for the front seats. I also used the True Details Resin galley and wheels sets. I did not use any of the kit decals. And you are more than welcome to them. I made my own, as the kit decals are only for the two-tone high gloss version. Not my type. I have the engines lying around to make an E version, and I would love to get the R version. I also have the Airborne Command, Laser Lab, and Aria versions.

As for ref shots, there arent a lot of the interiors. IF I can find them, yes, I do have some in progress shots. Otherwise, I can see if I can get some better interior shots. But its pretty empty.

Here’s a couple other shots of it.

Congratulations on your 1st place finish with the 135. It looks very good. My hubby spent a bunch of time on those old A models flying back and forth between Beale AFB and Kadena, Okinawa. I got to stay home at Beale and take care of two little kids and the house.
