Who makes the better Tiger 1?

Just ordered two Tiger 1’s. Both are Academy kits. One has the fully detailed interior…(looks sweet) and the other is pretty well detailed on the outside. Anyone out there built these particular kits? The cost seemed fair for the amount of detail work compared to the images of the Tamiya kits. Now for the research part of the project.

I don’t know about the Academy kits, but have heard nothing but rave reviews about the full interior. I’m still putting my future bucks on the forthcoming Dragon Tiger late. Too many goodies to pass up.

The Academy kit is very good … considering the price. The interior have a few errors but nothing too serious, and nothing that can’t be corrected. The most obvious flaw are the ammo racks, they have three rounds side by side where it should be four.
Like this.

Other than that its a very good kit. When it comes to exterior models I think Tamiya is the best, but the new model from AFV sure looks promising.

As far as I’m aware, the two Academy kits are exactly the same when it comes to exterior. I have the full interior version, and the kit looks superb.

I think Henschel made a pretty realistic Tiger I.[;)]

Personally, I like interiors.

I built the Academy Tiger I without the interior and was very pleasd with the quality of exterior detail. I think the two kits are the same except one includes an extra sprue for the interior. Heres a picture of mine if you want to take a look:

I put the academy kit together a few months ago and have since started putting the tamiya early tiger together. Both are great kits, but of the two I prefer the tamiya kit. I just recently found a site that offers the tamiya kit at the same price as the academy kit.
