Who makes good metal gun barrels

hi guys im after a L/24 75mm gun barrel for my PzKpfw IV H and i wanted opinions on what u guys recomend as a good metal barrel

thanks again

Never used one yet on a kit, but I’ve read reviews of Jordi Rubio barrels are pretty good. I’d like to try one, just to see the difference, but I have a hard time justifing the price.

I’m sure others will be along to offer better insight.

thanks lemonjello i’ll check them out thanks for the advice

I’m not sure if Eduard makes one for that vehicle or not, but their barrels are the best. Rubio’s are also good, CMK - Hot Barrels also makes good ones.

I used the CMK ones. They are OK, but the resin parts (if any) are an awful lot of cleanup. Also, the one I had was a lot longer than the kit barrel, leaving me with a “which is accurate” delimma. No getting technical, I eyeballed some pics and determined the CMK barrel (this was for the King TIger, BTW) was long, so I hacksawed off a little on the end. Looks OK, but took me a lot longer. See if ABER has one. They make really nice 88 barrels for the Tiger and Ferdinand.

I’d go by price. Chesapeake Model Designs also sells them, but I’m not so sure about the IVH.

I have heard jordi rubio is good. But I myself tend to stick with the kit barrels.

I’ve only purchased three metal barrels to date, and my personal favorite has to be the Eduard barrels over the JR barrel. I had to do some cleanup on the white metal muzzle brake on the JR barrel, plus glue it to the main part of the barrel. The Eduard barrel required no cleanup, and is beautifully machined as one piece. Semper Fi, mike

Like Mike said, I have an Eduard Panther barrel and it is very nice, all one piece with the baffle. Jordio, if I’m correct comes with barrel and baffle seperate.

IMO Eduard and Modelpoint make the best aftermarket barrels. I also like Armo and Aber. Jordi Rubio is good as well.

hey guys thanks for all your advice i will go with a Eduard barrel, i would of used the kit barrel but im using a cavalier zimmerit kit and it wont fit, and i like the look of metal barrels over plastic ones

so thanks again and tomora i’ll call into my LHS and pick a Eduard barrel

from Az

Hi! I’ve bought barrels from just about all of the manufacturers mentioned but my favorites are by Aber. I got a couple of them (the last one was for my Dragon Elephant) and they are really nice! Some of the muzzle brakes have 4-5 pieces but you will pay big bucks for some of them( around $20.00). I especially liked the 2 barrels I got for my Dragon Flak Pather but they cost more than the kit. Awsome looking though! Check out the PMMS webpage Review section if you want to see what they look like - he’s done a couple of them which have blow up diagrams and give tips on how to build them.

Bottom line, you can’t lose buying any of the stuff out there, just have to deceide how detailed you want to be and how much you want to spend.

Enjoy

Charlie

I have ordered an Aber panther barrel but it hasn’t come in yet. I have really liked model point. Their M1A1 barrel was great.

thanks chazsmith, thank you very much for the advice i’ll take it all on board
thanks again AZ

If you have the soldering chops , go with ABER barrels .
These are tough to assemble be prepared for that , but the detail is second to none .

If not try to find the Eduard version .
These are the best in my mind , and they are one piece , nice compromise, very straight , very clean cutting on the muzzle.
You really cannot go wrong here if they have the one you want !

If they don’t have it go with JR , I just don’t care for the cast lead muzzle on JR barrels , very much cleanup here .
