I ALSO LIKE THOSE GIANT WHEELED SPG’s BUILT BY DANA IN EASTERN EUROPE.MY QUESTION IS WHAT DO YOU GUYS LIKE?DO YOU LIKE MODERN ONES LIKE THE M-109 OR THE AMX 30? RUSSIN TANK KILLERS LIKE THE SU-100 OR ISU-152?GERMEN TIGER ELEPHENTS OR SEIGE MORTERS?IT DOES NOT MATTER TO ME.I LIKE TO BUILD THEM ALL…HAVE FUN…[?]
Currently building Revell’s PzH2000. It’s big. It’s got an aluminum barrel. It’s vonderful. [:D]
M-110 and M-107, though the Hummel and Nashorn were fine SPG’s in their own right.
The M12 rates right up there for me.
Artillery in general rocks. I have loads of arty pieces in my showcase (see below). Lots of SPs and towed arty. Hope you like.

Wow!! Your showcase is quite impressive! The level of detail is amazing - all the interior work and everything.
Bayonet Recon, Thanks for the praise. Read at another post about your experience at NTC. I have been a player there on four rotations, next assignment is looking like going as an OC for a while. How is/are the hobby shops in the area, if there are any close by (Barstow???, Victorville???) or do you have to travel to LA or other cities to get to a hobby shop. I did see that the PX and Clothing Sales had a pretty good selection of modern armor.
Hmm…that’s been quite awhile and I’m sure much has changed.
There was one really good store that a buddy of mine had shown me, but I recall he had said he was going to be closing his store and moving to Florida or something - I don’t remember the name anymore. I’m sure the store is gone by now.
I did a quick search and one came up that I remembered. Dee’s Fabrics & Hobbies, 1316 East Main, Barstow, CA 92311. Phone 619-256-6209. Don’t let the Fabrics in the title throw ya. I was a bit skeptical when I was told about it, but they had a pretty good selection of stuff in the back half of the store and also were quite helpful. You might want to call before you head over. I know there were a few in Victorville, but I only went there once for modeling stuff so I really don’t remember much. If I needed anything, I could get it in Barstow, on base, from friends or from home.
I know a lot has changed at Ft Irwin since I’ve been there, but if you get an opportunity to visit the 2/11 HQ - the entrance at the opposite end of the building where the squadron commander’s office is - there used to be a display of models (some were put together by an old buddy of mine) which were Sheridan kits modified to look like the VISMOD Sheridans. I don’t know if they’re still on display, but they were quite impressive models.

Academy’s M12 is a great kit.
The only one that I’ve built so far has been the Tamiya Wespe. I have been looking at the new Tamiya Marder III. I’ve heard nothing but good reports from friends who have bought that kit. So it looks like that might be my next project. I’m kind of looking forward to building that one. Gives you plenty of opportunities to work on your interior detailing. Happy modeling to all… Chris.

I am finishing a M42 Duster Self-Propelled AA gun. It has a motor that comes with the kit. I intalled it, built the upper hul and gun. When I tested the motor with all the parts attached I found that it runs backwards!!! Can anyone give me a tip on how to fix this minor problem?
I have a DML Nashorn and Hummel, Tamiya Marder Pak 40, Italeri Priest and Elephant and will one day build them all!
Taking about S.P. Guns, how come nobody mentioned the British 155mm AS-90
S.P. Howitzer just recently released by Trumpeter?. Well, I have it on show in my
latest page : http://www.falconbbs.com/model16d.htm
and it’s as beautiful as could be.
I also have got Trumpeter’s Chinese 152 mm S.P. Gun, Chinese 120 mm AT Gun, Chinese 122 mm Rocket Launcher (all 3 with engine and interior details!!!), and Challenger II in stock, they will be shown in future pages.
thebigguy69: If you can get to the wires just reverse them, maybe through the turret hole?
