Reached a point of major decision here. When I whitewash the tank do the tools stay realtime color or do they get splashed with white too? If I was a tank commander I don’t think I’d want to foul up my tools with whitewash. I plan to keep the cables and the jack metallic, but am in a bit of a quandry about the shovel, hammer, etc…
Any opinions out there?
First of all I only know about 1 whitewashed King Tiger and that was 314 “Anneliese” from s.Pz.Abt 503. But that doesn’t mean there wasn’t others it just means that I haven’t seen any more in my 17 books about the Tiger.
But generally speaking the germans often left tools and other loose equipment on the tank when they repainted it. There is a very famous series of photos of a King Tiger getting its camo applied in the field, and it is obvious that most of the loose equipment is still on the tank, one of the things I noticed was the tow cables.
Thanks guys. I think we’re in agreement…keep it off the tools. This time I’m mounting all the tools (except cables) before I paint. I think that will illiminate glue touch-up I seem to always need when I put the tools on last.
