Hi guy’s having a good easter? I have one problem i need advice on. And that isss paint white on the model. I’ve been painting white on things like undercarriges and the such but I find that white paint never covers everything properly [even after a few coats] as the paint is so thin! anyway is there some way to prep thoose area’s to overcome this probllem? what does everone else do?
It is VERY difficult to get gloss white to cover irregular surfaces like landing gear. I spray on FLAT white either from an airbrush or rattle can, then gloss overcoat. It doesn’t come out real shiney, but that is realistic too. Land gear struts, braces, etc don’t have the high gloss sheen of a car at an auto show.

Mrex,
Try using flat white paint as a base coat, if airbrushing mist on a light coat of paint and later use your gloss white as a final coat.

I prime first with Floquil Grey Primer, then spray with Floquil Reefer White. These are enamel paints, intended for the Model Railroad modelers, but the white is the best covering, most opaque white hobby paint I’ve ever used. If you want gloss, you can overspray with a thin coat of ModelMaster Gloss Insignia White, or simply use Future as a top coat.

thank you I might use the flat white. isn’t it the most difficult colour to work with!
I’ll spray can “cheap hardware store” white and than dip it in future for a nice gloss.
Ive had the best results with floquil reefer white also.
Yup You have to prime first with a FLAT color. Then you can spray with gloss white or flat white, whatever you want, but the flat primer is what realy holds the paint in place.
