white glue and tissues

I’ve read about soaking tissue in white glue and water to make canvas, etc. What ratio of glue to water do you use and how long is the typical dry time? And as a bonus question does anyone know the conversion of model railroad scales (mm) to plastic models (fractions) or where I can find it.

I usually use a 1:1 ratio of glue to water and it dries overnight.

Thanks for the help. The conversions are printed off and hanging on my hobby room wall.

I use Bausch & Lomb sight savers. There are cheaper ones available, I just happen to use these. They are lens cleaners for eye glasses. When these wipes dry they look like a tarp. Also, when they are still wet you can form them to almost any shape you want. After it drys just paint it the color you want, and yee ha, you have a tarp.[:D]
