I am starting Dragons T-34/85 this weekend and I have the kit tracks and a Fruilmetal ones I got at a show. Which would be the better choice, as far as ease of doing.
Miller41… The fruil tracks are hands down better than the kit ones. While the kit tracks are great the have an A… load of injecor pin marks to sand off and require glue… the fruils are way easier. Save the DML tracks for a tamiya kit or some thing that has no indi links in it…
Wait a minute! DML’s T-34/85 has about the best OOB indy treads I’ve ever built! There are no ejector pin marks on them, just mold seam lines on the side, with are easy to get rid of. My advice: use the excellent kit treads, there actually fun to build!
Armormaster, I stand corrected… I assumed (yup) that they were of the same quality as the tracks in my JS II kit. They two pins on every link that have to be filled or filled. Glad to be wrong… my appoligies. Good luck with the build.
I’m cheap, so I would go with the kit tracks if they are as good as people say. You could buy another kit with the money that Fruil tracks cost.
The DML T34/85 is an excellent kit. However, no matter which track you use, one thing be aware:
On Step 3, DO NOT glue the frontal idler wheel axles(#A6 base on my older T-34/85 Mod. 1944 kit# 6066) at the first place. It is better to leave them loose so that they can be adjusted for the tension when you put on the individual tracks. Have fun on it.
