[:)] As I stated in a previous post,I an going to attempt a plane for the first time in a long time.
It is the old Revell Skyraider kit. There are many moving parts and I am hoping to get some feedback on what lube to use for the plastic. In the instructions, it shows vaseline.I figured a water based would dry up quickly and noy work and I don’t have any idea if vaseline would soften the plastic or otherwise be harmful to the plastic.
Model railroaders have several that they use, but I don’t recall much of the info on them. I abandoned model railroading years ago when the manufacturers, retailers, etc. decided to try and kill the hobby by driving prices as high as they could, so I don’t even know what companies are still in business. You might post the question to the model rail forums, here.
Basically, you are looking for a silicone grease. However, not all silicone greases are suitable for plastic.
Another possible option may be one of the greases made for R/C applicarions. Your hobby shop should stock Tamiya’s Ceramic and Molybdenum greases. These might be overkill for your application, but both types should be plastic-friendly.
