I have not built a model in years.I’m planning on building a 1/32 fighter. Is Tamiya the best??Any help would be greatly appreciated![8D]
“the best”, that’s always a hot topic.[}:)][;)]
What would you like to build?
If you want a WII fighter, you could think about a hasgawa bf-109/Fw-190/Ki-84 Frank. A more cost efficient option might be the new Revell He-162.
If you want a post WII jet fighter then tamiya has some good one’s.
From what I hear, the Revell He-162 is a nicely detailed kit, no real fit problems and very reasonably priced (around 25 euro’s)
Ernest,
Welcome to the forum! I don’t build 1/32 scale planes but that’s only due to my space limitations. I’m sure you’ll see many contributions to your question come back in the affirmative that Tamiya is probably the “go to” manufacturer for 1/32 scale aircraft. I do have a Trumpeter F4U-4 kit on my work bench which I will be attacking next and many will say that Trumpeter has a vast selection of subject matter in this scale. So it all sort of depends on what your definition of “is” is…I mean what your definition of “best” is. For variety I’d have to say Trumpeter (based on my limitted experience only). For fit and engineering it just might be Tamiya. One thing I’ve always wondering and I hope someone can answer this here is: Tamiya makes great 1/48 scale kits but everyone knows that their decals are terrible. I hope for the incredibly high prices they make you pay for their 1/32 planes that their decals are better! Has anyone experienced what their 1/32 scale kit decals are like?
Can anyone else chime in?
Thanks and best wishes!
Eric
Welcome to the Forum [#welcome]. That’s very subjective, it really depends on which fighter you want to build. Tamiya makes a few high quality kits in 1/32, as does Hasegawa & Trumpeter. If you want to do a Zero, the Tamiya is definitely the best.
Regards, Rick
I’m mainly 1/48 builder myself, but I would go for Hasegawa or Trumpeter if I had to do some 1/32.
Welcome to the forum aka the nuthouse [:D]
Eric are you in politics? Very Clinton-esque with your rhetoric there.
Back on topic… Ernest If I had to build a 1/32 fighter I’d probably stretch my definition of fighter and build one of Trumpeter’s 1/32 Avengers. My favorite WWII Navy plane, but that’s just me.
Welcome aboard Ernest!
LOL! Next thing you know, Eric will be disavowing builds left and right. “Ah did not have building relations with that Hobbycraft kit!” …or “Did you use CA?” “Yes, but ah did not inhale” and finally, “How accurate is that Corsair kit Eric?” “Close, but no cigar.”
Trigger,
The orange I am currently eating just about shot out my nose from laughter! No I wasn’t trying to be political. I just think of Pres. Clinton’s remark whenever I hear the phrase “That depends on what your definition of…” is used. If I can’t use that phrase anymore then I’ll have to come up with a new strategery.
Eric
in 1/32 scale, The new stuff from Trumpeter is just great. Enjoy.
