Italeri’s He-111 come with this markings… “1H+AH” 1/KG 26, North Sea, 1941-1942… Here’s the point… Italeri kit is a He-111H-6, and it doesn’t include the exhaust with flame dampers (I think old kits does include them, but only for one side of the engines [:S]). Worst of all, this particular aircraft (1H+AH) was suposed to have crash-landed at France in 1940… Remember? North Sea, 1941-1942?
Well, depending on the version, I decided about backdating it if needed. If this aircraft really crash-landed in 1940, that means I must paint the cockpit RLM 02 (H-1 to H-5: RLM 02, from H-6: RLM 66). Any further info about this will be appreciated. Best regards.

1H+AH KG 26 (with flame dampers) crashed 1940, but you have an italeri kit saying 1H+AH KG 26 1942 north sea?
Easy (absolute basics here as letter/number colours work here as well)
KG 26 denotes gruppen (bomber group basically)
1H+AH denotes, squadron and flight within KG26, NOT particular aircraft serial number.
So when an aircraft is written off the replacement aircraft wich may have different features will still retain previous aircrafts 1H+AH

No, not a “P” version, the engines have the air intakes at the right side, so they’re Jumo 211 engines, P version used DB 601 engines. Well, I want to build a Battle of Britain He-111, and fit external bomb racks… I guess it is situable for the Battle of Britain. I think it must be an H-3/5. It should be easier to say if the ventral gondola could be seen. I’m making a detailed cockpit so the details can be best seen if I paint the cockpit RLM 02. Well, let’s see what happens
Yeah, but it does have the tubular exhausts so it is pre H-6…
