I’m building a Monogram Boss 429 Mustang kit and I’m about to paint the main body. I will be using an airbrush to paint with, exterior color will be gloss orange and the interior color will be a semi-gloss black. I was wondering what opinions were out there as to whether I paint the exterior color first and then mask off and paint the interior next or vice-versa. I’m looking for any suggestions and techniques this forum has to offer. Thanks.
I’m generally not a “car guy”, but any time I do build one, I paint the body before mounting to the chassis/interior. This usually means airbrushing the main body as well as front & rear bumper areas separately, then being very careful when attaching those last pieces. I’ve found if I do it very carefully & then give the whole thing a couple of coats of Future (or whatever you use for gloss coats) it works quite well - and no masking required.

Considering that the exterior of the kit will be the bit “on show” & will be the first thing to smack the viewer in the eyes, I would say it’s more important to get it looking good ahead of the interior. I would suggest doing the interior, masking & then doing the exterior. This method seems to be the accepted one.
Wow, you actually mask the car bodies? Maybe I’m just not as demanding with my random car projects as I am with my A/C. Hats off to you Milairjunkie!
