Which camouflage you like best?

Marines got a new camouflage out. Must be a nightmare trying to paint in onto figures. I still like Woodland best. How about you guys?

I like the marines new stuff better as far as wearing in the field would go, it looks better, but for our purposes I suppose it is a pain in the arse?

Nothing better than British DPM!

Except maybe Kiwi DPM.

Havent tried doing the USMC, Redleg. But sure am gonna try. Wonder what it would look like in 54mm though.

Gunnie, DPM is cool. Kinda difficult though the way the colors overlap each other.

When I saw the marines in kosovo, they had the new camo on, it looks just like pixels from a screen. If you can do stippeling ( the paint by dot ), you cam probably pull off an outstanding camo pattern on a 54mm.

I like the late ww2 german “blurred edge” pattern. I liked it so much I’ve bought a smock and a winter coat (reversible from blurred edge to white).

Any camo that prevents me from being seen by the enemy…

Personaly my favorite is tiger stripe. With Brit camos coming in second.

Mike

I’ve seen urban camo based on the Woodland pattern but using two shades of grey, black and what appears to be white (or very light grey). I painted a 120mm figure for a friend using that color combination.

Tiger stripe is good too. Kinda gives you that “covert” look.

I like to be completely cloaked… just kidding I like ghili suits, makes you look like part of a field.

hi , the best cammo of all is grey , you never see a grey man , they blend in with all backgrounds cheers ian

I like the new dig camos, when I first saw one, I was very intrigued. [I first saw it “LIVE” on a “Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry” (PPCLI) corporal, and others, when they were training for peacekeeping duties for bosnia in Ashern, Manitoba]

Hey, that does sound intriguing. I dont think I’ve seen that before. Do have a photo or a link? Thanks!

I guess that I’m old school but I still love the woodland and the chocolate chip cookies camo

The new CADPAT that M1 referred to can be seen on the Canadian army’s website:http:
//www.army.forces.gc.ca/lf/English/2_0_68.asp?uSubSection=68&uSection=3 for the woodland or
http://www.army.forces.gc.ca/lf/English/2_0_67.asp?uSubSection=67&uSection=3
for the arid region.
The technique I used to paint was to take a saml piece of manila paper, and using the tip of a number 11 knife, cut a small (1mm or even smaller) square in the paper. Then, with an airbrush and lightly thinned paint, dust the colors of the camo through the mask onto the figure in the pattern you want. It should work for the new marine camo too.

Hey, cool!

Thanks, Cader. I hope I’ll be able to build figures wearin those one of these days.

sorry I was gone for a while, allan. Thanks for filling in cader. [:)] you got some pics of how those turned out?

Not yet, M1. Im still trying to figure out the correct colors to use, plus the layout of the webgear and other equipment. Is the uniform pattern (pockets and stuff) similar to the US or UK BDUs? I’ll try to look for more photos. Thanks!

don’t know. I don’t do modern guys so I don’t do that kind of research. (or follow uniform changes that much)
