Where to get them legally

Over the past few months I have read articles regarding modelers using hypodermic needles for guns, pitot tubes, and pipe[^] Nowhere am I able to find where to get them[%-)] The last time I checked I was told I had to have a perscription from a doctor to get them[banghead]

Thanks[:D]

I think it depends on the state. This may sound odd but try the local feed mill/store. If they carry the animal meds, they carry needles as wells.

Whoa. Don’t have that problem over here. I can get them at the corner drugstore and send them to you… but the shipping will cost more than what’s being shipped. Also, if you have a diabetic friend who is on insulin, maybe you can use one of those (my sister takes insulin every now and again)…

Don’t they kinda pose a potential accidental stabbing? O.o lol

Thanks to all for your input[:D] Swanny I will try those addresses you sent[:)] Have you dealt with any of those vendors in the past[?]

Richrad

I have not ordered from k-tube before.

around here if needles are needed you either get a doctors note or go to the feed store. the local feed store has several grades(sizes) of needles.

I mostly use cryostat tubing myself, and have WAY too much of it. Talk about opposite ends of the spectrum… [:p]

Fad to Black…

BlackWolf,

Tell me ,more about cryostat tubing please[%-)]

Thanks[:D]

yep, you can get hypos from the ag supply store. very cheap too. I think the price tag was 2 bucks on a box of 5.

You mean you guys don’t turn your own gun barrels, complete with internal rifling???

I’m so disillusioned… [sigh]

Just kidding.

Jeff

Well, Jeff, now that you mention it… [;)]

RSaddlemire,

Cryostat tubing isn’t something that you’ll find in a hobby shop. I’m out the door right now, but I’ll explain it a bit more later…

Fade to Black…

Be careful you only use unused needles.
Once they’ve been injected they become a bio-hazard and by law have to be disposed of in a certain way.

One nice thing about buying needles in a farm supply store is there is a much larger choice of sizes available.

I get them either from my Dr. , Dentist, or Vet. All are obliging, and the biohazard caution mentioned earlier by Iroc should be taken seriously.
Bruce

Hmmm… I was wondering about that myself… I’ll have to make a stop in a local feed store. Thanks for the info everyone.

Ooops. Forgot to put that in. Quite naturally, don’t reuse needles that are used. That’s kind of scary. A potential biohazard on the end of your F-16…

Alrighty, RSaddlemire,

The cryostat tubing which I have is miniature aluminum stuff used in cryogenic cooling systems for electronics such as can be found in Hellfire & Javelin missiles, amongst other systems.

I have two varieties, finned and non-finned. The non-finned stuff is good for gun barrels in 48th while the finned stuff, which has steel ribbon wound and welded around it to form cooling gills, is good for oxygen hose in braille scale. It’s too big for 48th, but 32nd is A-O-K. Probably too small for 24th.

Unfortunately, you can’t find this stuff in 'yer average hobby shop!

OK, so having worked in doctor’s offices for the last six years, we’ve disposed of a LOT of used needles. There are many different gagues available - but one thing puzzles me: What’s the best way to cut the tubing to length without crimping and smashing the ends?
