I would like to try something like Flory or UMP clay washes. I’m in America and I would love to order something locally because of shipping reasons and costs. But the these two washes are only sold online in the UK. Are there any similar products sold here in America or maybe I can find these products in a store or online? I tried a few of the big stores, Hobby Lobby, HobbyTown, Squadron, etc… but I’m not finding them anywhere. Another thing, is there a way to make a good clay wash like these products myself? I know I can make my own oil, acrylic, enamel washes…but I really would like to try a clay based wash.
Flory Washes are only available from the UK but he charges a flat fee of E 3.95 which is like $5. I have ordered from him in the past and Im very happy with the washes.
Although this doesn’t answer your question, I didn’t want to order stuff from overseas either when I returned to this crazy hobby. One of my first offshore orders was direct from Flory as PlasticJunkie said above, shipping was inconsequentially cheap and delivery was quick. I wouldn’t worry about it.
I also use Flory washes and really like them. I’ve ordered direct from him and shipping cost is minimal and delivery is quick. Give them a try, I think you will be pleased. The “Dark dirt” wash is my favorite.
So I bought some Vallejo Pigments and also Scale75 Oil Wash at a local hobby store. I will try mixing the vallejo pigments with water to try as a sludge wash. I will also try the oil wash and just see which one I like best. I tried acrylic washes before, but didn’t like the results like many people on here have posted.
Hello from a fellow Okie in Broken Arrow. How did that work out for you? I am starting Revell’s 1/32 Fw109 F-8. I’ve been wanting to try the clay washes but am interested in your method of mixing.
