Just curious, those of us with significant others does your “allow” you to display them in the main rooms or are they regelated to the hobby room? I have a couple wooden ships she was cool with displaying in the living room, everything else is in my basement room. Though when I’m done with the 1/200 Bismarck I’ll be pushing for the living room. I’m not holding my breath.
At my last home everything was in the garage. In my current home the garage is smaller, so I have some in there and some in our bedroom, and my “winners circle” display case is on the upstairs landing.
I am fortunate to have a huge basement, and I get TWO rooms in the basement…hobby room and music studio. The rest of the house is the wife’s… and I’m cool with that! I’m currently building a shelving unit on one entire wall! Oh yeah!

A few are in a curio cabinet in our living room - most however, I keep in wall-mounted home-built display cases in the workroom.
Mine are in individual cases at the moment. They’re in the room where I build. At some point they will move to the rest of the house, but probably when I don’t have to worry about hockey pucks, basketballs, softballs, etc. flying around the house.
My biggest worry is my daughter thinking the boats would be nice for her dollys to ride on. Can’t wait for her learn what a step stool is for.
Mine are in bookcases in the living room, with the stash up above the 6 foot level, and running around the top of the room.
As I use up the shelf space, Anne buys another pair of doors with glass centers, and I mount them on another set of shelves,I have one 3 shelf unit that is a lot smaller and hangs on the wall, for the “latest finished” models, this unit is also covered, but with Plexi instead of glass
When/IF I exceed 240 models in the living room, we will have to find another solution, that won’t be for a number of years, though, lol

I keep mine in my mancave/hobby room in 3 display cabinets from Ikea. To keep the body count down, when I get tired of the older builds, they go on Ebay.
I keep my finished models in display cabinets built for that purpose by an old friend who owns a cabinet shop. They look like this:
That’s awesome, Tex! I need something like that. We own many pets, including a cockatoo. Anyone who’s owned a cockatoo knows that they make a dander that gets on everything, everywhere! Thus, any displays have to be completely encased, or soon have a white haze on them that is not easily-removed (the dander has oil in it, so it also sticks well).
My wife and I fully-support each other’s ‘habits’. ![]()
I actually have a couple of assembled kits on display in her craft room. I also have a couple of kits displayed on our fireplace mantle, one is in it’s own glass bell. The other, sadly, is a gray representation of the Weird-Ohs Freddy Flame-Out.
I have others in the plastic display boxes in our office, which is a converted formal living room. It has built-in bookshelves across one long wall.
So, I display my assembled kits pretty much anywhere I want.
My wife had me build the ship in my Avatar for the Den. The rest of the finished models are in my workroom in a curio cabinet or on shelves. There are a couple of R/C cars in the other spare bedroom with my spray booth and 4 R/C boats down in the basement. I guess the only rooms out-of-bounds are the living room and kitchen (so far).

I have some display cabinets on the finished side of my basement. The pics are old,so the cases have more builds by now.
I can only drool looking at those cases…
Only in the basement in my hobby room. Which is very long and narrow. The section I use for display is only 40 inched wide but 10 feet long.
The stash is on shelves underneath
This thread comes up every couple of years,if you really want to drool, you gotta check out Fermis’s set up,probably the best I have seen.
I agree. Fermis set up is awesome
I currently have two Curio cabinents. I’m moving this weekend and getting a Man cave (Woo-hoo!). I should be able to put up some shelves on one of the walls for more display area. The rest of the house is reserved for her "“girlie foo-foo” stuff. lol.
That’s a nice set up there Tojo!! Nice, clean and attactive looking display cases! And you are right about fermis’ setup!!
Lucky for me I’m a bachelor so I display where I want! Got a few on the mantle above the fireplace and a B-17 hanging in the living room along with a Mustang and a ME-262. Just finished a Spitfire and hanging it soon!
Same here Squatch. The only other one is this household is the female Chiweenie, and she dosent care. In fact, she think my builds are the best in the world. But then, she has no one to compare them too LOL.
For those who are on a tight budget, Look around your neighborhood sometime. I found a split level entertainment center that someone was throwing away. There is a small chunk taken out of the one level at the back where the TV would sit. So it won’t be hard to cover up. That is the only thing wrong with it.
I also set up some shelving in my office/hobby room. I made them on 3 levels and one part looks like cat walks. I also found some nice stained shelving some one had set out for anyone that wanted them. I was walking the dog, when i found them, so I had to hurry back to the house and get the truck and get them.
