have you tried PJ productions? and/or High planes?
I want a kit that I can build. A Heller, or Revel kit that around $10-$15…Not pay for a built models… Thanks anyway…

Wasn’t there a decent mold of what you’re looking for once put out by Esci/ERTL? (or is it ESCI/Ertl, Esci/Ertl?). I say mold because I think it has made the rounds of companies over the years. And if I’m remembering correctly (this is not guaranteed) the same mold may have found its way to Italeri? Or is this a dream I had 20 years ago? I remember a decent kit in that scale, because at the time I was looking for one in 1/48, and all I could find was 1/72 until I found the old Heller kit for half-price. I saw one of the latter recently and it’s still not a bad kit (until Eduard blew everything else out of the water with that particular a/c type). The Heller kit will build into a one or two-seater and other variations on the Mirage III theme. The plastic is oddly heavy and thick, which made the model feel quite solid, though it was tough to sand.
I’d check the French modeling sites. The way I find these is look for reviews of French a/c on Google, like say, the Hasegawa F-8E(FN) Crusader, and it turns up French modeling sites (I was doing this just yesterday) that have translations. I’d start looking there if no one else here can lead you to a basic kit in 1/72. It’s a beautiful airplane, but I’m a real sucker for anything with Delta wings.
Forget everything I just said and go here:

Heller kit no. HLL80323 1/72 Australain Mirage IIIE. Quite cheap, too.
As for the Vampire, Heller makes a nice one in 1/72, even though it’s an old kit. I built it years ago and it still holds up pretty well today, since the panel lines, though raised, are few and can be scribed in the soft plastic if you wish.

Well, after looking around, I can get a 1/48 scale model of the Mirage III for less than a 1/72 scale one, butmy collection is 1/72… I like to keep my collections in one scale… Although I really would like a 1/48 version, it just wont go with the others… I will keep looking… From what I can gather. There is only the Heller, and Revel kits… I am going to attempt, with alot of putty and sharp knives, turning a Mirage 2000 into a Mirage III… It is the exact same shape, except for the nose, and engine exhaust!.. I will have to re-scribe it also I am guessing? It will make for an interesting project, and also seeing if I am capable for the challenge?

Better try it with a Kfir model !
wait… I think Eduard makes one.
Thanks for the bump George… But thanks to a kind member on the boards, I have worked out a trade, and now have a Revell 1/72 Mirage III to go with the collection… Thank you for those who responded. Much appreciated…

Chris: I don’t know if my going off on the tangent about the 1:48 Heller kit confused you, but the link I gave you was for an Aussie mail order shop advertising a Heller 1:72 Australian Mirage III. I think they had the Heller 1:72 Vampire as well.

Chris from Japan,
Squadron out of Carrollton, Texas has one. Its from PM Modelers, I don’t know this mfg, maybe someone else does? Try this link: http://www.squadron.com/ItemDetails.asp?item=PM0207.
If it doesn’t work try www.squadron.com then search on their page for Mirage III, aircraft models, 1/72.
BTW, they also have the vampire and a pricey canberra.
I’ve used squadron without any problems as I’m sure countless others can say as well.
Good Luck!

PM is a company from Turkey.
Their models a so plain, compared with the today standards…and wants alot of putty…
I’ve build the Heller 1/72 kit.
Looks nice, no really fit problems, only on the air-intakes.
Very cheap, but has finely raised panel lines.
Cheers,
Jürgen
