Where can I find an F-100 (any series letter).

I have been searching for the last 5 years for any F-100 model preferably in 1/48 or 1/32 scale.

It doesent matter if it’s series A,C,D,or F. I have searched All hobby shops in the Wisconsin Fox Valley area Oshkosh,Fond Du Lac. Also have searched the internet. How can one of aviation’s

land mark jets just dissapear? Help please!

I know that Monogram made a D version in 1:48 scale (and it included photo-etch parts!), because I have one in my stash. I’d try Ebay every so often.

Be patient. Trumpeter is releasing a D in 1/32 and from what I’ve seen it looks pretty good. Don’t know when it will be released though. Monogram had a D in 1/48 that was pretty decent, the kit engineering let it down though and it’s currently OOP. In 1/72 you have more variety, AMT had a F model that wasn’t too bad and Heller had a D that I know nothing about. Check Italeri’s website for the AMT Hun as they now have the moulds for it and re-released it not all that long ago. Have you checked www.squadron.com ? A quick look at Squadron shows two in 1/72, the Italeri F and the PM C (that I didn’t even know existed)

I have built the Hasegawa 1/72 and the Monogram 1/48 scale F-100 and both are pretty good kits. They show up in hobby shops occasionally and on ebay from time to time.

Monogram’s F-100D is the best F-100 in 1/48. The High Tech version comes with a small photo etched fret to add some detail. Fit is so-so. The gap between the wings is a little too small for the fuselage, so it pulls the sides of the upper fuselage half together and causes some nice fit problems just forward and aft of the wing. There are always a bunch for sale on eBay. Feel free to give me a shout if you need detail photos or want any info on aftermarket for this kit. ESCI’s F-100D is pretty bad. Lindberg’s is just a shell, and is actually a YF-100.

Trumpeter is finally releasing their 1/32 F-100D this June. They’ll also be doing an F-100F some day. The D will cost $170. So much for my plans to build a C, D and F in 1/32!

Cheers!

Ben,

I just received a Monogram High Tech series F-100 kit purchased at Ebay. The kit looks very good. The PE is just the right amount of challenges that I want. Where do I get the detail photos that you mentioned. Also, any tips on buildup of the kit will be appreciated.

There are some F-100D detail photos on this page of my website:

Im pritty shure the trump is out. Im willing to bet money I`ve actually seen 1 or2 on ebay. But havent checked in a while…

The Trumpeter kit has been out for a while. Very pricey at $169.95 MSRP, but I’ve seen it discounted for considerably less.

Regards, Rick

For any and most all info and pics you need, check out this site.

You might also drop Jeff Garrity an email. He doesn’t show one on his site but, I have talked with him in the past and there are some kits he doesn’t list every month because he has numerous copies. If he doesn’t have it, ask him if he will keep an eye out for one for you. He did that for me on the Monogram T-28 Trojan I was looking for. He is a top notch person to deal with.

Several of the reviews of the new Trumpeter 1/32 version of the F-100D indicate that it is a very good kit. My biggest hangup would be that price tag.

AMEN TO THAT!

I’ve got a spare monogram kit if you’re interested.

I have the kit and it is very nice. It has limited weapons loads and a few errors, but it can be built into an early F-100D. I am waiting to see if AM drop tanks, pylons, and weapons will be released for it. It would have been nice to have the proper rocket launchers and some napalm tanks to go along with it.
