Thanks for the heads-up! I think I’ll do that over the weekend. I’ve never drained the tank since I got it two Christmases ago.
Eric
I know I drain the air from it and see a lot of condensation mist when I do… I may drain mine tonight just to make sure… with as humid as it here that’s not a bad idea!!!
I drain the tank every single time I use it.
Most tanks are not painted inside and can start to rust pretty quick if you don’t let the air out each time.
Mike
Me to.
Hmmm.
I have a water catcher before AND after the tank, and only the first one actually gathers any moisture, and not even much at that.
To date I have not had any water in the tank, but I do live in the desert, so I guess I dont count[:(]
[#ditto] every time without fail. I also remove the “tap” and leave removed until the next session as if you can drain moisture there will be some adherent to the walls of the tank. Even doing this I still get rust tinged water.
you will ALWAYS have some degree of rust in the water, new from the store the tank will have a slight film on the inside from the production process, metal rusts, simple fact. However by draining the tank on a regular basis (after each use) will keep this to a minimum…
Having a moisture trap between the compressor motor and the tank sounds like a good idea, but before anyone tries is make CERTAIN that the moisture trap is rated for a pressure greater than the maximum pressure of the tank. Most items like that are rated for somewhere around 90 psi. Many general-purpose compressors will easily exceed that. Mine pressurizes the tank to 140 psi.
Well, not everyone can live in the middle of an Oz desert, Sean [:D] I frequently wish I did though, it must be nice.
i have a c+h quiet air comp, and after reading this i tried to drain it for the 1st time in about 3 months of use, and nothing came out…
i didnt get a manual with it, so could someone plz clarify the procsdure for me?
i just screwed IN the wing nut and tilted the tank up…is this the right way to do it, or should i remove the bold holding the wingnut??
thanks ppls!
Hi. all.
Just to let you know that I agree with the majority who drain after every spraying session it helps to maintain any seals and I get mine serviced every 18 mths.
