I can do all of the air force jets now if I wanted so why not the navy.
all thats left is a fh1 phantom, f3d skyknight f11 tigershark ,a straight wing fury and a Cougar.
And maybe a new f7u cutlass and a f4A phantom 2
Shoot I could build all the British and Russian and French and Swedish jets so why not the rest of the navy birds.
Matchbox did a Skyknight and F9F Panther in 1/72 (Revell probably stil have the moulds)
Hasegawa have the F9F Panther, F9F-8 Cougar and F11F Tiger in 1/72. These are still pretty widely available.
Fujimi made a very sweet trio of the F7U3, F7U3P (recon) and F7U3-M Cutlasses in 1/72 in the mid-80’s. Perhaps not so readily available, but they are out there.
F-4A? Do you mean B? Academy is supposed to release one at some point, but its horribly misshapen and completely unworthy of the efforts of any serious modeler…[:P]

the cool thing is, if you want a late F-4A, the last production block was the same externally as the F-4B,if you want early and 1/72, just use the Falcon A nose set on a Fujimi or Hasegawa F-4B, if you want 1/48, then you can use the Falcon set with the upcoming Academy kit (or the current 1/48 that someone else will have to fill in)
Revell of Germany have already released the Matchbox Panther, but, not the Skyknight,we have a few choices of 1/72 FJ-1, the only real gap in 1/72 is the FJ-2 or 3/3M Fury, and the early -6 Cougar, even the FH-1 has 5 “sale table” choices of kits

If you are are a 1/48 scale modeller then there are several short run option. The Skyknight is made by Czech models (and I vaguely remember a straight wing Fury) and the Tiger by Fonderie Miniatures.
So there actually were F-4As? I did not realize this. Of course I’m not really an expert on anything. Lol

yes, Jimmy,F4H-1 was the designation for the first few batches,when the Phantom got a higher powered engine, those aircraft were called F4H-1, and the old aircraft became F4H-1F,when “DoD” happened, they became F-4A for the old ones, and F-4B for the new ones
any big phan of of the Phantom can phill you in on many of the details of that group of planes,the experts know far more than either I or most modelers,but, we don’t need to know which vacuum tube did what in the radome of the F-4A and B,it is enough to know that some of them could be bought at the same local store that had a tube rack and a testor for your TV and AM/FM radio, lol,and that the circuit boards came out on rails, got stripped of the tubes and were washed in the field dishwasher on Marine deployments
