I’m getting to the paint stage on my Italeri/Accurate Miniatures TBM Avenger and am wondering about the color of the wheel wells. This is a TBM-1 C from '44 and the directions aren’t specific about the wing wells nor the tail wheel well. Thanks!
Wing wheel wells were usually painted in the same color as the underside of the aircraft. The tail wheel well though would most likely be in interior green or zinc chromate. I dont have the link here at work for the IPMS Stockholm article on the subject, but I will try to post it later on for you after work.
All pictures I’ve seen of Avengers and all builds I’ve seen have the wheel wells painted white. I’m guessing that your bird will be in the standard tri-color paint scheme seen on Avengers in '44.
