Wheel painting info.

This is proberly a silly Q. But i am very much a novice and not sure of correct approach on the way to do things.

I see here that people seem to complete the entire vehicle before painting and others paint as they go.

I am just about to start a trumpeter 1:16 T34 and wondered about the wheel assembly.Do i paint/prime the inner surface before joinning together or join then paint.

Any advice on definate parts that need paint/prime before assenbly would be cool.

I try to attach as much as possible before paint to keep the paint from causing issues with the glue. I then hit it with primer and paint. I leave the small tools etc. until last, all the better to lose them before final assembly [sigh]

Not that I am an expert, but I try to assemble the hull and all the major components first. Then paint.

Like Dostacos, I leave off the tools. But I also leave off the wheels. I cannot get behind them to paint, so I paint the whole thing, paint the wheels off the vehicle, then add the wheels before weathering, etc.

oh yeah, wheels. I almost always build 1/48 scale Tamiya and they need to be super glued so it is easy to paint the base color with the wheels on or off since they can be attached for painting and removed for final details before they actually get glued. I just have not mastered the glue the tracks and tape them to remove thing…

Hi, a lot of the painting processes depend on the level of detail you intend to do. If you intend to heavily weather the hull behind the wheels, theres no point in glueing the wheels on as they will only get in the way. Also on the scale your working on, its good to be able to do the wheels and leave them off till last.

Tracks are also easier to do if the wheels arent glued on. This way you can remove the tracks and wheels together after the tracks have been assembled, for easier painting.

Hope some of this helpas.

I was more thinking about glueing wheel halfs together.

Do you paint/prime inner side of wheels before or after glueing.

Looking at a wheel once it is joined together seems like painting by brush or can may be hard.
