Somebody out there’s gonna know the best way to do this!
This is a little complicated, but I’m gonna do it anyway. I am wheathering Revell’s 1/48 B-17G…chipped paint, bullet holes and a blown inner starboard engine…the Hitler Kaput and it’s crew are landing from the last mission of their tour (Berlin)…how do I do it?
if you have any suggestions on any of these wheathering techniques, help me out please!
Reference some past topics (via the search function here in the forum) regarding paint chipping and the salt technique. There are a few topics regarding different styles from salt to painting the chips.
Bullet holes can be done by thinning the plastic from the back side or interior and then making your ripped and shredded metal by drilling and roughing up the area to be shot. Bullet holes are not always round and exit holes are usually bigger than entry holes. I’ve seen some pretty realistic stuff done with a combination of using copper or other metal foil and it was seamlessly added to blast damage etc to make for some pretty rough looking damage.
Pastels are good for creating carbonized and soot covered burned parts.
I’m sure this is the first of a few technique ideas to come. Everyone here is pretty helpful so I’m sure you’ll be given a plethora of ideas and techniques. Good luck!
Mike
