What's your best guess?

I’m working on Italeri’s M4A1 and want to add sand bags with Apoxue Sculp. I’ve wasted some already cause I can’t get a handle on the size of the bags. Any one know the general size of sand bags? Here in central Mi. we don’t get much call for them. Alot of snow fence but not sand bags. I was thinking about 2ft long or so but when I converted them they looked too big. I don’t really want to keep making them until I get the size right. Sometimes I ain’t real bright!![D)][%-)]

This seems like a question that Peridexion would jump all over. I haven’t a clue myself. 2 ft sounds about right though. Sorry.

get a photo of a sherman with sandbags and count them, then guestimate the size from there

Stug61,
We are getting huge rains here in SoCal. Flooding all over the place. I just sent my son to go measure one down the street. Should have the answer shortly. Although these are the modern type, it should do.

Stug61,
Okay the kid is back…and wet. They are 2 feet long, 1 foot wide, and the thickness is 2 to 4 inches.

Thank you muchly!!! I tried the counting bags on photos but when I tried making them and got them on the kit it just didn’t look right so I thought I’d toss it out there to you all!! I think I’ll go with the 2 ft. Thank again.[:D][:D]

I noticed the torrential rains you all are getting on the news tonight! Yikes! Stay dry!

God Bless!
Glenn

Thanks Glenn,
It’s a mess out here but you know what, not much to do but put on some movies and build armor while watching them.

We just got 6-7 inches of snow yesterday but at least it’s not the mess you guys are getting. After the Toro did the job on the driveway it was hot coffee and the workbench, your info has helped me decide on the bag thing!! Thanks again!!

your welcome Andy!

So if you had a 1/35 scale sand bag. How long would it be.

I scaled it out to3/8ths, if my math is right. I definately had the first set I made too big.Oh well I’ll use the hardend ones up somehow.

Is that Inches or Centimeters.

Strictly inches!! So it would be 3/4-3/8 for the bag. Does that sound right? I’m starting to confuse myself again!!! Darn oldstimers!!![xx(]

the limit to my flooding is my leaky basement on warm days.

Check this… an issue sand bag is approx the length of an extended entrenching tool, six inches wide, and 2/3 of an etool across.
Thats how I remember the dimensions when I have to build with them.
An etool is 18 inches long.
So, I dont know what that scales to, I usually work them with a figure nearby to scale them. Some will always be fatter, or slimmer, or not filled all of the way so they can be made to fit. The thing is, dont go too big.

Thanks ackman, I went smaller than I first did and pressed them down more and they came out alot better. I was having a heck of a time visualizing the size. Some kind of mental block or something. Probably Februitis here in MI. Just getting the general size from you guys helped alot!!![bow][bow][bow][bow]

Excellent!! That’s why we had them right? (Plus fetching beers!!!LOL)
