What's wrong with this Picture??

Well, perhaps recently they’ve been seen as agnostic and secular, but I think nailing 95 Thesis to the Castle Church door speaks volumes about the nation’s faith. Interestingly enough, Martin Luther’s views about Jews were quickly revived and embraced by the fledgling Nazis as justification for the persecution of the Jews and their Final Solution. Add in the Holy Roman Empire under Frederick I Barbarossa, and the simple fact that the current pope is German, and you’ve really got a pretty devout group of people, on both sides of Christianity. And if you think the French are devout Catholics, you should hang around some German ones! [:-^]

I think the German’s dislike for Sciencetology is due to their devoutness. They view Sciencetology as an upstart and foolish religion. Which is what I suspect L. Ron Hubbard was shooting for when he invented it in order to be able to refuse to pay taxes. Silly enough not to be considered a threat by the real churches, and serious enough to be considered a real church by a government tax agency.

Not to get off topic or anything but about that scientology thing it really is foolish. My uncle lives up in Hemmit CA hes a pastor of a entecostal church. Well i guess he used to hunting up in this one area where the water turns a certain way and I guess the scientologist bought that area. Know if you come in at a certain distance youll trip a wire and guards will come out on sandrails or something like that.

[:-^] So, back to the uniform discrepencies.

Thank You!

…the belt buckle is officer’s quality; other ranks had a solid friction-type buckle…the maroon stripes were reserved for General Officers or those assigned to General (OKH, OKW) staffs…

eagle wrong thinks same paints he wore in that japanese moive and no iron cross of some kind and thats enough geussin its not toms flault he just does what he’s told right good luck guys

Sorry 'bout that. Didn’t mean to knock the thread completely off topic. It is THE reason the producers can’t use a particularily vital building for a very significent scene, but doesn’t have much to do with the uniform.

The German government considers the “Church of Scientology” a cult whose aims are fraudulent and more concerned with raising money–not too hard to disprove, actually. Ok, I’ll shut up now…[:-^]

Is that his hair, or is his hat way too big?

…you would think that since the German Govt. is so fond of Von Stauffenburg that they would let the movie company use the location to better show what he did in trying to assasinate AH…???

…not his hair, he is just trying to hide his ego under that hat…

[(-D] No, I mean…

You see this all the time with actor-types in military uniforms. There’s always some fit issue with the uniform. The way-too-tight problem in Top Gun was one thing, but in this uniform here, he makes von Stauffenburg look like a first-semester plebe, when in fact von Stauffenburg would probably have had his uniform custom tailored and fitted, so it wouldn’t look like this. One specific problem is the way the hat looks like it’s the wrong size for his grape, leaving a crooked appearance and a big gap above his ear. At first I thought it was because of his hair being too long, which of course is another common Hollywood mistake.

Not bashing Cruise, mind you. I could, of course, but I’ll do that in a different forum.

Don’t hold publicity stills as gospel for uniform colors either. Fabrics are dyed to compensate for the camera. If you could see a white shirt on a movie set, you’d notice that it looked grey or dingy. Thats because it would create a hot spot or burn out if it were left its original white. So they subdue them or dye them down. Same thing with colored fabrics. They are chosen/dyed/subdued/brightened to look good on camera and to compensate for lighting, film stock, development effect and on screen effect etc. Something that the publicity still is taken by a different crewmember or pulled from the raw film stock.

As for whats wrong… well I’m with the rest of you. Cruise is in the movie. Never liked him, never will, despite his beliefs, politics or social standing. Never thought of him as an actor, never thought he could act, and certainly ranks up there with my list of wackanuts in hollyweird.

My pick for this part was Casper Van Dien. Not much of a better actor but looked more to the character and I could stomach his on screen presence more than Cruises.

geez its all wrong.

Rutger Hauer woulda been THE MAN for his movie!

I think the eagle is in the correct place, and I think the color is at least close enough (it may be really close, for all I know).
