Whats the quality of Revell paints and glues?

I’ve just bought my first model in the Czech Republic (Kopro 1/72 MiG-17 PF “Fresco D”) and it looks like the most easily attainable glues and paints are Revell brand.

My local tesco has Revell enamels in little tins like Humbrol (hate them tins[:(!]) a well as filler, thinner and at lest three types of glue all by revell.

I’ve never worked with Revell finishing products, are they pretty decent?

No! Don’t buy them! I normally use tamiya, but I’m currently building an F-86D by Revell, and because they use unintelegible names for their colors, i decided to pick up a tin or two…

I got back, went at the SabreDog, and after a full night of curring, it was sticky, and had a gloss to it, even though the paint was matt. MikeV tells me that it may be some bad reaction to Tamiya thinner that i soak my brushes in before i paint. I’ll never buy another revell paint tin again! Of course this is just me… Maybe all that is needed is the proper thinner. [:D]

As for glue, I have a friend that uses the Revel Glue with the Needle applicator and says it works great! But, i think you can’t go wrong with a big bottle of Tamiya Extra Thin cement. You just put a drop on the seam line, and the capilary action draws the glue to where it’s needed. Fantastic stuff!

Revell paints are fine for brush painting, not so good for airbrushing. Their glues are excellent.

And if you use the Revell colors with the correct thinner, they are really not bad.

Or would you use your Tamiya-Acrylics with White Spirit as thinner and wonder why this dont work? [:D]

Honestly, Testor´s Model master colurs are a little bit better than Revell Colours.

I have used their glues, both the liquid stuff in the bottle, and in the applicator with the thin metal tube, and their filler.

The glue I find a little on the thick side, but the applicator is very good.

The filler is just like the Humbrol stuff, very soft, but fine once you get used to it.
