What's the deal with Encore kits?

The title is the question. Just what is this company that releases kits dropped by other makers, boxing them in plain black and white with new color schemes and decals. Unfortunately, most of the ones I’ve seen are in 1/72, which is not my scale. But even so, the ones I’ve run across have excellent quality (So far) and the prices are just too good to pass up. The ones I own are released under the Squadron logo, along with Encore’s own trademark. Whatever they are up to, I hope they keep it up. Or have I been ruthlessly duped?
Tom

Larry Campbell, the owner of Squadron, buys the rights to market kits from other manufacturers & box them under the “Encore” label. The name “Encore” kinda tells the story, as they have all been previously released under different labels. They are mostly 1/72 scale from Eastern Europe, although some are Italian origin. Most are decent kits & the prices are reasonable so they are pretty good value if you like 1/72 & the subject matter.

I’ve often wondered about those kits, too. I agree with the Shark; the price is too good to pass up. I’ve built a couple of them and they certainly are decent quality for the money.
Thanks for the info, Rick.
