Whats a good price for this one ? Its been on my wish list for a while, saw one on evil bay for $70 last night and grabbed it. Shipping bumps that up to $100 (oh well, when you just HAVE to have it) I tried to do a price comparison without much luck. I googled then went through 5 pages on google, without success. Has supply dropped off after the initial rush ? Do most of the mainstream retailers still stock them ? Is this a good buy ?
PS: Just saw them on Internet hobbies site for $123 + shipping- I feel better already [8-]
They retail for a lot higher than that, usually. I got one from Great Models a couple years ago for about $65 and they have them in their Memorial Day sale now for $77 and some change. And their shipping is lower than ebay. You would’ve saved a little bit but still a good deal.
Sounds like a fair deal. I’ve heard nice things about that kit and actually want one. If you can hold off until fall or early winter, it would be a prime build for a multi-engine Luftwaffe GB that is in the works.
IMO $70 is just about the fair market value of the kit for its level of quality and size of the kit. I find this true for just about every large scale Trumpeter kit. The suggested list on all of their kits are almost twice of what the kits are really worth. I have a couple and I only purchase them because I was able to buy them at a substatial discount. Their kit as have way to many errors poor decals and missing detail to warranty a list price anywhere near what they have suggested. I think the internet proves this as I have never seem any of their kits listed a full retail price. Always at a discount. Just my[2c]! I have the Fw 200 inthe stash to. A GB in Sept would be cool mucker. Count me in if it happens.
This is a kit I’ve considered adding to the stash but just can’t bring myself to do it. Same with Trumpeter’s C-47. I’ve purchased from this site and had good luck with them in the past - got Tamiya’s 1/32 F-4 Phantom for about $70 total which I felt was a steal, and Trumpeter’s 1/48 SM-79 for half what I could get it for here in the States.
Charles, I am interested in your multi-engine Luftwaffe GB for later this year.
I would be in for that GB too. If not the Fw200, there is a Bv222 Wiking and He111 Zwilling in the stash as well…
Aggieman, some tasty prices at that site. A group of modelers who onsell for low profit…almost sounds too good to be true, but I will certainly give them a go.
Yeah, it does sound too good to be true … but I have that 1/32 Tamiya Phantom, the Tamiya Storch, the Trumpy SM-79 and Academy’s big F-22 Raptor, all purchased for roughly half what those kits would have cost here in the States.
Well I had a really nice seller on e-bay who cut me some slack and let me out of the original buy . I just couldnt go past that $57 price tag. I’m stoked to have got it for $80 shipped and thank aggieman again for putting me onto that site.
Dont know…I think soulcrusher touched on it in his post. Price range from $57 to over $120 seems weird. Mine arrived this week…yippee ! I guess some people cant be bothered to shop around and will pay the top end price ? Its roundabout the same size as a 1/48 B17, so one would think they would be the same price ? Trumpeters list price for their C47 is a joke as well.
The $120 dollar list price is figured out by the marketing boys thinking they are going to make a big profit. How they decide on these things I do’nt know but as I stated before they missed the mark by about 50% on almost all of thier large scale kits. I do’nt know anybody who pays full price for a Trumpeter kit. As you can see they can be found all over the web and eBay for far less.
