What You Did on Your Work Bench Today

Hey, TB! Great to see you again!

Not much today. Just hand brushed a coat of flat brown on the rat that’s part of my Phantom of the Opera build. That’s it.
Oh, and started writing up a word.doc index for 2024 FSM magazines, for personal use. Got the March/April issue done.

Cheers,
Mark

Worked on fixing my new paint dryer. Put the cockpit pieces of the Falke in the old homemade one. Putting the parts in a heated dryer is an absolute must when working with Vallejo paints.

Funny thing about middle age…it makes you cognizant of your remaining time. I’m 54 but the gene pool is flawed so who knows how long I’ve got. I did spend some time last vacation updating Scalemates and making a list of what I have with prices in case my wife has to deal with it all. I’m at 81 kits but new ones entice and as the review coordinator for AMPS, I get new kits from Takom and MRC that I either keep or pass on to my crew. I’ve really been trying to pass on more than I keep. Haha

Hello just joined, I have been preparing and scratch building the hanger bay of Big E. The 350 scale kit is big scale so the detail is important. I will be lighting interior and bridge and that is now finished, Will be spraying the interior colors over next few days will send pics.

Welcome to the forum @Mateo45fighter Looking forward to seeing build photos…

Welcome @Mateo45fighter! Very much looking forward to seeing your Big E pics. Heck of a way to introduce yourself to the forum!

Spent 6 hours decaling my Nissan R390. Some so small I needed 10x magnification just to see the direction the body hatch arrows pointed. Did I mention I hate decaling. Next up 1/12 Italeri Bugatti T35B Roadster. Only decals are dash and firewall, Thank God.

Broke down my stash into models I can build now, without purchasing anything and those that I need to buy paint for. Only need 5 colors for the models I’m looking at building soon that I need paint. It was at 23 colors needed, but went through the list and found I had the equivalents.

A bit of painting - and begged my dad to buy more kits (with my own money—but he has the eBay account :sob:) since I am almost done with this one

I’ve been working on some shop/bench infrastructure today. I’m building some tray racks for inside an upper cabinet so I can have a safe, dust-free place to keep in-progress projects.

Wow! That H-39’s camo looks awesome. Did you freehand it or did you use masks?

I used AMMO’s version of Panzer Putty

Working on a Tamiya Type 61 for the Japanese group build. Very rough kit one day I’ll pick up the Fine Molds version.

Finished! I enjoy these hidden infrastructure projects… no sanding, no finishing, just glue and pin nails assembly.

That looks awesome! A great place to let your WIP projects “rest” that’s dust free & protected while you work on something else. A great idea!

I haven’t been on this forum in quite some time and after chatting with an ol friend, I figurred, why not.
The only time you’ll see my bench this clean is after a completed build lol
My 1/48th Hasegawa A-4F “Super Fox” got pushed to the rear as I am waiting on a “Mike” burner can so I decided to mess around with Hasegawa’s P-39N.
I’ll be using Combat Series(aka BlackBox) interior with some other aftermarket goodies.

Glad to be here!

I like your stand for holding up your A-4.

Thanks Tom! Since I put up these cabinets in my workshop (studio? Hobby room? Dungeon?) I’ve kinda just crammed disorganized stuff in them. This is a huge upgrade.

I’m learning in my middle age how important organization is for my mental well-being, and my ability to just sit at the bench and accomplish stuff, as opposed to floundering about in a mess, wondering where I left off. Unfortunately, being organized is not natural for me — so it’s a skill I’m working to learn. Hence a Saturday at the tablesaw instead of working on my various in-progress models.
