What Would You Call This Tank?

It’s a pic from the book ‘Panzer Division’ in the Ballantine WWII series. In pic #6, the caption reads ‘Death of a Panzer’. Ummm…to my eyes, it looks very much like a KVI. The tracks, glacis plate, and road wheels lead me to this conclusion. Other opinions?

I agree, it looks like a KV 1 to me as well. I wouldn’t be too upset, old series of books and as “panzer” just means armor it’s not like they said it was a German tank.[:D]

Doug

If you’re gonna look at old books for mis-captioning, you’ll be kept busy. Don’t sweat it. Panzer means “tank” anyways so it’s not technically incorrect.

I agree.

Its a KV alright but on closer inspection it seems the negative got reversed as the hull MG seems to be on the wrong side.

Terry.

I agree; it’s a KV.

I’d call it…Natasha! [:X]

LOL!

Terry, the KV’s had the hull MG on the left side in a reverse arrangement vs. the T-34 for example. [;)] The driver’s viewport was in the middle between the MG and the head lamp.
