What will $40 get me?

Today I cancelled an order from DragonUSAonline after they told me my order would ship oct.10. I placed the order August 20th. On top of that, one of the kits i order was out of stock, so they couldn’t include that.

Now, waiting for a refund, and soon to have that forty dollars back in my pocket…

Any suggestions for a kit?

NOTE: kit doesn’t have to be $40 exactly, can be less or a little more, or any combo of kits would be great. Don’t suggest anything avaliable from Dragon online, as they have lost my business.

thanks

What was it? That’s only 16 days away … I’ve waited longer for items than that. Must have been a popular kit.

I’ve had nothing but great success from Dragon USA and will continue to.

I ordered three tamiya kits, The M5A1, the M8 HMC (that was such a PITA to find) and a Kublewagen.

yes, it’s 16 days away, but after waiting TWO FREAKIN’ MONTHS, on top of that they COULDN’T SHIP PART OF THE FREAKIN’ ORDER!!! it really wasn’t worth it anymore.

sigh, i wish i had your success Panther F.

I believe that Dragon USA online sources its kits from other online shops. That is why they are so cheap, they have kits that aren’t Dragon and it takes so long to ship. I would have been content in waiting for a cheap kit or two. I can’t pass up a deal with the way prices are these days.

[#ditto]–I think you’re being premature…give it a little more time.

I hate to be rude, but none of you have answered my question.

How I choose to do my business is my own choice. Having sunk $40 dollars into models I wouldn’t be able to build for two months is ridiculous. I’d rather put it into something i can build right then. And considering I’ve cancelled the order, there’s not much else i can do with Dragon.

well i like to be able to build so i would look for good deals and other stuff. Mybe a kublewagon, some figgies to go with it and a nice base.

Actually it has been one month and 4 days. [:D]

They don’t charge until the item ships. Thats how it was when I bought my Fehrmann Tiger at least.

You have $40? What are you interested in? Do you want to get the same kits from the cancelled order? Look around Great Models and Squadron. They both have good sales and good selections.

Erik

I’m interested in American Armor right now.

I’ve had good luck with Squadron, but would like a review of a favored kit, or a suggestion of one that is well liked, just to get an idea of what’s availiable.

this is were i get most of my stuff from is www.spruebrothers.com gordon folks are great to work with. and they have a great selction of models.

This will stretch your budget, but it intriques me.

LOL: taco, when I first read your post title, I thought: “This phrase is spoken out of car windows fairly regularly”

haha

Kidding aside, consider these US subjects (1/35)

AFV Club M5A1 light tank

Tamiya M8 or M20 armored cars

AFV Club M41 Walker

DML M16 MGMC or M4 Mortar half track

Tasca M4A1 mid production Sherman

All nice to build, fairly accurate straight outta the box

If you got a Hobby Lobby nearby, sit on the cash until their “40% off any item” coupon shows up again on their website and do it right. That’s the way to handle those “New Releases” sky-high prices…

40% off a 60.00 kit is worth the wait…

LOL, never thought of it that way T2. But, if i can find the tasca sherman for a reasonable price, i look into it.

Tigerman, neat kit, i’ll check that one out.

Hans, does Hobby Lobby have better model selections online? The one in my town is pretty bare bones.

How about Academy’s M4A3 Sherman and M1 Dozer blade.

Mark

Never thought to look on line, truth be told. I “buddied up” to one of the managers, (a cutie named Debbie) and she kinda gets me what I want (for kits) as long as I can tell her the manufacturer and kit numbers…

Try mustbid store on Ebay. They have good prices and yu get your order within a week. they are out of San Francisco if I am not mistaken. I bought the 1/35 scale Trumpeter Faun still wrapped for under $50.

I agree. I got the Trumpeter Sturer Emil at a unbelievable price, under $17.00.
