Yesterday as I was driving to work I saw somthing that maybe others could help me ID. It LOOKED like a V-100 commando with a turret. I know that some of the later ones did have a turret. I just didn’t think it was used by the US. I want to say it looked like the armored car with turret from the movie “We Three Kings”. It was painted in yellowish colors.
O’yeah I saw it going down highway 85 in South Carlina.

It sounds like the modern version, called the M1117. They are currently being used in Iraq. The Army is buying a bunch of them for convoy escort and to counter IEDs.

More info on the M1117.
Or maybe it was something from Force Protection. Their plant is in South Carolina.
They build the Cheetah…

The Cougar…

And the big’un, the Buffalo…

Can that hydraulic arm on the Buffalo retrieve golf balls?
that’s its main selling point.
I think that Heavy Art got it. That thing does look alot like the v-100.

FPI has some great designers. The hulls on their vehicles are V shaped, to deflect the blast up and out from the vehicle.
Saw some great footage on the Discovery Channel, on “Future Weapons”, of these bad boys taking some pretty heavy hits and they rolled right through. I will definately have less work in the field in the future once these are procured. A bored medic is a happy medic!
none of them can stop a rpg the way they are now or 50 cal
