More eBay idiocy. That price is right up there with the $8900 armored car kit last week. Yes it looks good, but not worth $1800. It will probably sell to some collector with money to burn though. Like P.T. Barnum once said, “A sucker is born every day.”

Edit: I just noticed it is the same guy/company that had posted the armored car last week. What a jerk. This guy is on some good drugs. [:D]

The armored car from before was reposted at the correct price, and the seller apologised, even on this forum, IIRC.

Anyways, I can’t really see myself spending this kind of money, EVER, on a built kit, but when you factor in the price of the kit, the size, and the time it took to build and finish this to some sort of reasonable standard…welll…the price isn’t exactly CRAZY. Gotta wonder how much he charges for his time though [:)]

EDIT: Also the detail on this one is actually quite nice.

That one was a typo and relisted at $89.00. This one may be a typo as well (perhaps $175.95?).

did anyone even pay for the armoured car? at 8999 or even 899? you can buy a lot of cooler things with that (even for model fanatics like ourselves)

I didn’t see the correction on the armored car. The guy needs to watch his decimal placement if that is the case. Either way, I still wouldn’t pay that for it. To each their own though.

I’m sure it’s a typo. Jeez, guys.

Considering that the MSPR for the unbuilt kit is about $175.00. It is still steep for a built up kit to be 10 times the base price. One thing I read in an article from a wooden ship model builder is never count your hours towards the price of a sell. The true payment per hour is less than $1.00/hour.

I’m in the middle of building this one. I looked at the pics they have on their auction. That is some wild detailing. If I were a collector, I would pay for those skills…just not sure I’d pay $1800.

You ought to copy some of those pics and use with your own references to help with your build.

Looks like it was not a misplaced decimal point after all. He really expects to get that, or at least near to it. I guess the seller thought it was overpriced as well. He has lowered the price to just under $1600 now. What a bargain!!!

most of us guys here are modelers, some of us build to collect, but I would wager there are quite a few folks out there that purely collect— look at Franklin Mints or any of those types of collectibles.-- this model is portraying itself as a museum quality collectible, and if you are the guy that just has to have a BR 52 with all the bells and whistles(no pun intended(yeah right))-- and can’t begin to fathom how to do it or even cares about doing it-- this could be your next purchase-- I bet it goes for near $1500 bucks— this is America, after all so what ever the market will bear and buyer beware, God bless us all-----tread[8D]-- p.s. I think it seems to pretty nicely done and I love to play the devils advocate[}:)]

Have you checked out his store. He must have 30 or 40 built models he is selling and none of them are cheap. [oX)]

If you check his rating it is only 24 and he has changed his user ID withing the past 30 days. [:-^]

If you read his write up he talks about “we build”…sounds like the model making mafia to me!! [%-)]

The worst is with all the models he has listed there was one which some [8-] bid on!!

I guess there are some really lazy and dumb people everywhere!! Makes you loose faith in humanity [banghead]

Rounds Complete!!

Guys, I just sold a “Ratt” guitar pick on ebay for $62.00…ponder that! [(-D]

I guess it is whatever the market will bear. [8D]

I must be one of those jaded modle building collectors who builds for the honor and glory and the fun of it!![swg]

Rounds Complete!!

i have to agree with the treadster on this one it is a nicely built model no doubt and if i had money to burn and couldnt do it myself or didnt want to then why not, that being said i dont have money to burn and i do like to build so i dont have to but i wont critisize someone for it.

Price aside, I must admit there is some incredibly impressive detailing, especially on the wheels, wires and gauges in that one shot. And to tell you the truth, if he can get that much for that model, than no matter how ridiculous some people might think it is, he comes out the winner.

You mean a pick used by the band Ratt?

Yeah, I worked as a “local crew” for the Bon Jovi / RATT tour in like…1983 maybe? After the show I picked up a used guitar pick from both guitarists, Warren DiMartini (who used stainless steel picks) and the other guy, Robbin Crosby. The latter one had his name imprinted and “RATT” imprinted on the other side. It had pick scrape marks on it; obviously used, ya know?

SO I had it in my pick box here for years, using it unthinkingly to teach, or plunk around with, mostly as just a curiousity. A few weeks ago I put it on ebay on a lark, and it sold for $62.00! Hey, I guess somebody just had to have it? Works for me![swg]
