What to do?...

I’ve painted my M24 Chaffee’s main gun:

It looks “new”… What to do to obtain a “used” look?.. Thanks in advance. Regards.

A good, dark wash will help.

I agree with the above. To further on it, here’s what I would do:

I would apply a filter first. A very very thin application of a beige or tan colour, to show that the white is not quite clean, but has had deposits of dust, and is ‘off white’

Then, some random small spots of a orange and pale beige colour, followed by a dark wash. The wash should pretty much overpower everything else. The net effect is a worn piece of equipment.

Damn, 40 something views and only two replies. Something wrong with this forum.

I agree with both previous posts. The guards closest to the rear of the turret would have the paint rubbed off by the loader loading many rounds, so a little bare metal on the tubes of the guards would be appropriate as well. The breech itself could use a little rubbing with some graphite on the wear points also.

Thank you guys for the replies… I had no replies in a Spanish forum… I’ve tried what you told me and here is my “used” gun:

Is my first try to make weathering to a gun, but I think it looks OK for my tank… Thanks again. Regards.

Looks sufficiently worn to me. Good job.

that looks quite nicely done.

I think the forum as a whole is getting less and less responsive…
