Yet another queston.
I want to get into the WWII era of armor, and I like detail, what would be a good kit to get, with a few accessories?[8D]
Build an Italian M13/40. Buck the German-or-Sherman status quo! There are a couple PE sets for the Tamiya kit, and Model Victoria makes a resin stowage set. I think Fruil makes tracks for them, too.

Or fall in line with the norm, and build an Academy Tiger 1 with interior. I think there is PE for inside and out… Academy also makes a few allied tank destroyers with interior, and their Stuart is supposed to be good also.
I have the Tiger. I haven’t started, but I like looking at all the bits.

That’s a tough question, it’s pretty open ended. Everyone will have their favorite or an opinion. Can you narrow it down to Russian, German, American etc.
Most everyone is sick of hearing about Tamiya Tigers and Panthers, but they build up well and need little, but tracks and grilles. For something a bit different, how about a half track or maybe a tank destroyer? There is a new DML and now AFV 251/C & D out. Perhaps some of the Academy M-10 or M-36. I just don’t know what AM parts to recommend.
I say, go with a Dragon T-34 kit (either one of the /85s or the new /76s), and use the WWII Productions treads for it, which are flat out nifty.
You could always use the Aber PE set, but I say “feh” to that – the Dragon kits have lots of nice details as-is!
There’s always Kettens or Halftracks.
Larry : does anyone carry WWII productions tracks in the USA yet ? I have seen them and they do look really nice .
Man, are you gonna get a lot of different opinions[:D] Best bet is go down to the LHS and see what grabs your fancy. Get what you think you will like, not what the rest of us think you should get.
My 2 cents: If you like detail, a kit with an open top would give you this and more. Anything from Tamiya’s Wespe, Marder 3 or 3m to Dragon’s Nashorn or Hummel for the Germans or the Academy Tiger with interior (although that is not 100% accurate) - Academy’s M10, M12 or Hellcat or Tamiya M20 for a low cost OD fix or the Tamiya Dragon Wagon if funds are plenty.
British stuff apart from the Tamiya Cromwell and Centaur are generally older mouldings or not totally accurate (eg, the Academy Achilles and Stuart Honey ) unless you got the money for Accurate Armour or Cromwell models.
The Ruskies don’t go in for much detail - mass production tends to keep it plain. Still an M4A2 or Dragon T34/85 or such would still be nice.
