What the hey, everyone else is doing them. Type 90, Tamiya.

Wow, very nice build Manic Moran. Nice details. Don’t know much about the vehicle, though. Mostly into WWII German armor (gosh, how original!). What was it used for?

Great Job! I’ve built the type 90 twice now. Have not done the mine roller though. You really pulled it off. IMHO, I think it’s one of the best kits Tamiya puts out.

Actually, I figured it was probably used to sweep for mines.

VERY nice job! The mine rollers look great!

[:D]that kit looks great,nice work.[:D]

Very nice!!![tup] Excellent work.

nice job done

Excellent job on the build.

Looks great Moran!

What colors did you use to paint it? I’ve got one in 72nd and want to knock it out, but can’t decide what colors to use. I haven’t been able to find anyone who stocks the Tamiya JGDSF colors.

Nick,

I really like this model. It’s like the JASDF has taken elements from all the major MBT’s and have constructed a perfect Frankentank. (I bet you haven’t heard that one before Larry). It is interesting to me from a design perspective, I would never build one, I really could care less about modern Japanese armor, but that’s just my opinion. I think you would do well with a bit of a dark wash, especially i/s all those screens.

What are those victory bands on the tube for ?, ( maybe they set off three mines?) I was just wondering since the JASDF hasn’t fired a shot in anger since the big bangs.

IMHO you have done a good job assembling and painting here, I gather from your post title that this is a popular model in the Frisco area where you live?, cause out here in the breadbasket you ain’t gonna find that baby waitin’ on the shelf…

Congratulations on a solid build…

Steve

By the way, from the location of the turret hatches, does this thing have an autoloader??? It looks like it…???

[(-D]

I feel the same way about modern German armour. I recently bought a Tamiya Leo 2A6 because of a great sale, but my heart is not in building it. I’d rather build a tank that actually fought (even in, say, the Indo-Pakistani Wars), or at least a tank of a nation that gets involved in military operations now and then (like the French).

I’m kind of like some of the other guys here! I don’t get much of a thrill from armor that has no battle history, but, that aside, I must tell you that you’ve done an exceptionally nice job with this project, and your modelling skills clearly show. Semper Fi, Mike

Great job on a cool tank! I love the color and the dead flatness you achieved.

Steve, the bands aren’t kill marks, but company markings. That tank is from the Third Company.
The Type 90 does indeed have an autoloader.
“JASDF” is “Japan Air Self-Defense Force.” I think you meant JGSDF! (G=Ground)

Like Japanese armor or not, I’m sure glad we got 'em nearby to help keep North Korea from driving down my street!

Personally, I love modern Japanese armor. Lots of very cool vehicles, and it’s kinda nice building something once in a while knowing it never killed anybody. Well, the occasional giant monster, but you know what I mean!!

Anyway, great job on the build and finish, Manic Moran!
How about adding some antennae?

I like your point of view Brian. Semper Fi, Mike

Very impressive.
Great job.

Excellent work. I always admire a build that is clean, and well presented. Very realistic. Thank you for sharing.

Well, I’d thank the JMSDF for that! The huge Japanese destroyer fleet would render any attempt by NK to invade sort of futile. They are nice looking ships, too. Build one today! (Ducks.)

Wise words indeed.

Absolutely! That’s why I said “help!” And they are definitely cool-lookin’ ships, for sure.

Of course, the US forces kinda figure in there prominently, too. [;)]

None of which can effectively stop those scary missiles, though…but that’s a discussion for another forum!

So MM, what’s your next JGSDF vehicle gonna be?

Way cool! Looks like the same minesweeper rig the IDF use on their M60s.
