What supplies do you use most

So it’s like Tamiya tape only wider and cheaper? I’m definitely going to have to try it.

Tamiya tape and extra thin cement,X-Acto blades, &Gorilla Glue Super Glue(thick gel) are always on my work station.

Right about that! I would say I go through airbrush cleaner the most, followed by rattle can primers. I use grey primarily and black on occasion. Tamiya Thin and Thin CA glues probably come next. I am forever buying paints (Tamiya and Vallejo acrylics and Abteilung 502 oils). I don’t know that there is one colour I run out of more than the others, but I always make sure to have thinner for all of them.

Love this! Thanks for the tip!

For me, it’s more so the items that help me keep my AB clean.
Q-tips(the wooden style handle), Tamiya’s various sized/shapped cotton swabs.
Lacquer/acrylic thinner(Tamiya, Testors and Vallejo) & Grexs wax for the inner workings for the airbrush.
Outside that, modeling tool wise, various sized tape(Tamiya’s line), toothpicks, glue(Tamiya line once again) along with Tenax 7R now reborn as Styrene Tack-It II.
I have enough No.11 Xacto blades to last me awhile..
Is it me or are their newer blades not as good as the original Xacto blades? Seem to not as sharp and more brittle.

Paint wise.. If anything, flat black, medium gray(mfg various) and primer..

The above mentioed are purchased more than paints as I have learned how to ration them.. Yes, you can teach an ol dawg new tricks! Haha

This thread is very informative!

Please educate me on this. What is it and what do you use it for?

You all have made it informative. I really appreciate the responses and the new to me ideas that have come with the responses.

Good question, I’ve been sitting here thinking about it and I honestly feel it’s a pretty even and rounded list of basics, sanding sticks. Primer, paint, glue, tape. Nothing super special that hasn’t been mentioned already. I mean my self healing cutting Matt sees more action than anything else.

Lacquer thinner and Xylene, for cleaning up after spraying. Small pipettes used for mixing, transferring my paint to the airbrush, latex gloves and, paper towels.

Hey Eric!
Styrene Tack-It is a type of glue that welds plastic together. It essentially hearts the plastic aka slowly melts it..
I’ll use a thin brush to apply this glue. For example, I build mainly aircraft.
When I go to button up the fuselage or put upper/lower halves together, I’ll put the halves together and slowly bead in the glue.
Gently applying pressure as I move along the seam.
This glue kills two birds with one stone.. Not only does it glue the parts together but helps take care of any seams.
I’ll also use this glue in general as well or as a quick fix.
I’ve been using this glue for years and love it. If you go to try it, practice on some scrap parts first.
Try it out, I think you’ll like it!

I thought that had become the Plastruct plasti-weld, as the bottles are almost identical. They pretty much act the same as well.

If memory serves me, that bottle is a bit larger than this one.
I’ve never used it as my main go to but only for glueing clear parts as it never crazed/fogged the clear plastic.
I didn’t think that the plastruct weld had the same characteristics as the Styrene Tack It?
I have a bit left, I should give it a whirl!

Now that you mention it, the Plastruct bottle is a bit bigger, but otherwise pretty much the same. I use it for almost all assembly anymore except for multi -media projects, i.e. PE, white metal, brass, etc. I was unaware that it didn’t craze clear plastic. I will have to try that out.

I bought a roll of delicate surfaces painters tape at Lowe’s yesterday. Haven’t had a chance to use it yet. Between Christmas and a woodworking project, I’ve been too busy to get back to the bench. I plan to be at the bench tomorrow while the wife is getting her hair done.

I think it’s slightly thinner than Tamiya with just as much adhesion. It beats Tamiya at the cost level to. So win win win in my book.
