Hi folks
I just picked up the Pro Modeler offering of the P-40E - havent seen it yet though. Does anybody know what mold was used? Is it the AMT rebox or what?
Thanks

From what I understand, it’s basically a rebox of the 1978 Revell P-40E with new or improved details such as the cockpit.

I think Mark is correct. It’s the elderly Revell kit.

'Tis indeed the old Revell kit. Unfortunately ProModeler should have dispensed with their ‘improvements’; most of the changes were for the worse…

D’ough!!
here I thought I had grabbed something cool…
thanks guys

It can still be built into a nice model. Here’s mine built using moskit exhaust, True Details wheels and Eduard photoetch belts. You need to reshape the rudder it’s a little large.
Well, you did… it’s a P-40 and it don’t get much cooler than that! [;)]
The basic kit wasn’t bad for its time. It’s just that the changes made to the ProModeler boxing were better left undone, the worst being the seat and the new ‘fairing’ around the windshield, both of which are plain godawful. But as hoot said, you can build it into a fine model. Hell, you can build any kit into a fine model given enough time, patience, care, skill, money, scrap plastic, resin and/or brass fixins as well as the desire to turn a mutt into a showdog…
Going back to the ‘coolness’ of this thing, I do wish I still had one of these for the collection because it’s got great boxart.

Yeah I guess you’re right Steve. I’ve managed to pull a hat trick or two out of a potential stinker before. It will do until I pick up the H’gawa bird.
Nice job on the kit in question - dig those markings!
