What Model Brands are the best?

I havn’t built for a few years, used to try build monogram. what others are good? I used build jets 1:72 and WW2 in 1:48 should I start doing jets in 1:48 too?

There are many good companies including Tamiya, Hasegawa, Academy, Revell, etc.
I like to ask on this forum about a particular aircraft I want to build and then find out from these people which company makes the best kit for that particular model.

Mike

I am like you Roosta, I havent built a model in over 15 years. Have you gone that long? Anways Hasegawa has caught up, Monogram/Revell is a dinosaur and there is a company Named Accurate Minitures that is what we were looking for back then. They have white metal and brass sets now that add unbelievable detail that makes me sad I had to aqcuire scratch building skills back then to have the detail you pay 15 bucks for now. Those companies are good Eduard is one that I focused on in my return to modeling for those detail sets.
There is a a guy here code named “swanny” that has the good so look for his post. Any question you could posibily have you can get answered here except interior colors of aircraft, I asked a while back and no one has looked at it so…
Welcome back to the sky.

Ok no Worries anyone mind offering good brands for these planes? I’ve been out of action for about 6 years.

1:48’s

F22
MIG 29
SU 35 OR 37

ROOSTA:

IMHO may I suggest:

For 1/48:
Spitfire & Me109 → Tamiya
P-51D ->Tamiya(although you will have to purchase extra aftermarket decal); Tamiya also make P-51B in RAF decal
Hurricane → Hasegawa
B-17G → Monogram
C-130 → Italeria

For 1/72:

F-4, F-14,F-16, & F-18 → Hasegawa
Eurofighter & Rafela → Revell/Germany(although I’m not sure Hasegawa also makes them, if you find them, get them)

Oops! Sorry, the Revell Rafale is 1/144, I think Heller also make a 1/72 Rafale.

Anyway here are some reviews on the planes I suggest:

as MikeV says, there is no best [;)]

i like icm, dragon, but they are hard builds.

Everyone has their opinion on who makes the best kits but it usually depends on the type of aircraft as to who makes the best kit. Tamiya make some great kits but Hasegawa cover alot of subjects that Tamiya don’t do. Academy are starting to make some great kits too. So all I can suggest is read some reviews of kits, and choose the one that looks best or has the options you want.

hope this helps

In 1/48th scale, Tamiya only kits the early versions of the Bf-109 and Spitfire, namely the Bf-109E and the Spit Mk.I & Mk.V. Hasegawa supplies Later versions of both including the Bf-109F, G, and K. They also kit the Spitfire Mk. IX in several versions. I have personaly built twp diffrent versions of their Bf-109’s and found tem to be well fitting and simple to construct, good kits for people just getting started or just needing a break form a hard kit.
Hope this helps
