What kit do you want most?

A month back or so FSM asked what kit you would like to see the model companies produce. I know they can’t list them all in the magazine so let’s hear it!

Since I’m a dirt track racing fan it would be a 1/24scale dirt track late model stock car. [:D]
Take care,
Pat

The kit i want the most all though i am most likley ready to build it is Rommel’s GREIF halftrack.

i would like to see them come out with the older kits they use to have i want a second chance at building them…boy did they come out bad when i built them when i was younger

Vickers Wellington in 1/48 scale for me.

How 'bout a good quality kit of the Bell P-59 Airacomet in 1/72 scale, i.e., not something that I have to half sculpt with Squadron putty to make it presentable. As long as I’m on obscure WWII Bell A/Cs, how about the Airabonita, the tail-dragging version of the P-39 that the Navy briefly flirted with for carrier use. I think it got as far as the prototype stage.

As long as I’m fantasising, I wouldn’t mind seeing a Martin-Baker MB-5 in 1/72 in a good, Hasegawa/Tamiya-quality kit. That was one of the cool planes of WWII that never got into production. There’s a guy out west who’s built a full-size replica. Sssssssmokin’!!!

I would absolutely love to see a piagio P.180 Avanti in injection form in !/48 scale.

This aircraft is drop dead gorgeous and it would be a shame not to represent it in the plastic modeling hobby.

We need a few more civilian aircraft options in the aviation end of the hobby anyway.

I know that the FSM survey stated ‘no reissues’, and you probably mean the same thing here, but I just can’t resist.

I would like to see Revell AG reissue the 1/144 Boeing 767-300. It’s a big hole in this scale.

How about a 1/72 scale B-58 Hustler? As a kid, I built the 1/144 Revell issue of this plane, and I recently completed the 1/144 Academy issue. It’s just a cool plane - it even looks neat parked at the USAF Museum in Dayton, Ohio.

Have you tried tracking down the Italeri 1/72 B-58 kits?

They’re probably well out of production, but if you do some checking around in classified ads you might find one.

I don’t know much about the kits as I never build one of them, but there was a B-58 A and a TB-58 training version released.

Good luck if you try to find one

upnorth,
I didn’t know about the Italieri B-58 - I’ll look around for it on eBay and through collectors. Thanks for the tip!

I’m looking tor two - in the past Revell-o-Gram did such a nice job duplicating some of their 1/48 “Century Series” aircraft into 1/72 scale. The exceptions are the F-102 and F-106. Would very much like to see the old Hasegawa issues replaced by these!

Would it be too much to ask for a super-detail 1/48 scale PBY Catalina? I know it would be huge… but what a plane! [:p]

Revell-Monogram released a very well publicised PBY-5 into their Promodeler range about 5 years ago, I believe they followed it up with a PBY-5A not long after.

By all accounts (including an FSM kit review) it was a great kit that was in need of very little aftermarket add ons.

Its been a while since I’ve seen either kit on hobby store shelves, but I can’t see a reason why it wouldnt be re-issued somewhere down the road.

There were also at least a couple of aftermarket resin conversion sets made for it by the Canadian firm, Belcher Bits.

I’m sure those 1/48 cats are out there for you to find somewhere

Good luck!

Most of my “wish list” contains USAAC/USN between-the-war aircraft:
1/72 B-18A Bolo
1/72 J2F Duck (early version, e.g, -2)
1/72 new-tool A-20A

Of course if Siga (or anyone else) wanted to throw in that once-announced Grumman Guardian, I wouldn’t complain a bit!

I’d like to see compatible scale models of the Boeing X-70 Valkyrie and the Tupolev TU-144 to compare and contrast the two jets… and the near-obvious Soviet (um) parallel “research” between the two jets.

A nice injection Pe-8 or P 108 would be lovely

A Brithish Staghound armoured car

I’d like to see a 1/16th M1IP Abrams (preferably fom Dragon or AFV Club for the detail) to work on… That, and an M88 Recovery vehicle to go with it in the same scale… My NG tanks are continuously broken, so I want to do a realistic diorama of it…

A whole entire line devoted to WWI. I think the Model companies forgot about a little thing from 1914-1918 that in just a 4 year period displays some of the best acceleration in armored vehicle advancement than any other war.

I WOULD LIKE TO SEE A HIGH QUALITY INJECTION MOLDED PETLYAKOV PE-8 WWII ERA SOVIET BOMBER. REALLY INTERESTING PLANE THAT IS AVAILABLE ONLY IN ROUGH VAC KITS.
ALSO WOULD LIKE 1/72CONV KIT TO MAKE HE-177 INTO HE-277
