What kind of bombs are...

…the ones included with TESTORS 1/32 B-117A kit # 7570? I’m building mine ‘in-flight’ and one of them simulating that its being dropped. Any help including what color they go will be greatly appreciated. Sorry for the silly question, the instructions are very vague on this kit.

What’s a B-117A? Do you mean F-117A?

Oops, my mistake, box to close to the Testor’s B2 Bomber. Yes, it is the F-117A.

The kind that blow up.

Mr. Obivious strikes again.

Yeah, and the technical name or designation of those that blow up from the F-117A is???

Can you take a picture?

Most of these bombs were olive drab. I’d imagine it should be one of the Paveway Laser guided Bombs. GBU-10 or GBU-16 maybe?

Look it up here and see if you can find a match:

(Be careful choosing reference pics, Navy/Marines bombs can be a different color than Air Force bombs)

I remember the old 1/72 scale Testors kit also came with B-61 nukes too though.

Thanks a lot for the link dmk, I’m off to see if I can find it. Here is a picture I just took probably while you were typing.

Work in progress, the underside has been painted. Support will be provided by a plexi-glass rod.

Very nice so far. My Daughter has one in her mini stash. I’ll probably end up doing a lot of the build though… LOL.

The ordnance looks like the GBU-10 to me.

Keep in mind, the fin and guidance sections of these are attached to a regular “iron bomb”. You can make it look more realistic by fading and weathering the center section so it is a slightly different shade and looks a little more beat up, with new high tech sections bolted on either end.

The front of the center section (the actual bomb itself) should also have a yellow stripe on it, showing it’s a live bomb (or a blue stripe showing it’s a practice dummy).

Thanks for looking Sparrow, this thing is BIG! I love the 1/32 scale.

dmk, thanks again so much for your help and tips on the paint. They are vey valuable to me.

Happy Holidays!

Yeh, the size is the reason we haven’t let her build it yet. We live in a mobile home and her bedroom isn’t much bigger than a walk-in closet. That’s why almost all of my really big kits aren’t built.
