What is your biggest modelling flaw?

I know what mine is… its easy.

PATIENCE.

I have none. It gets so frustrating because I never wait for anything to dry… I dont want to spend the time to sand every little thing down. Then I regret it after its finished. I need to learn patience big time.

I’m in the same boat.
NO patience.
I have to have several projects going just so something can dry, I think that a seam or parting line won’t be noticable so I don’t sand but after painting it is, etc., etc.

I have lots of patience, I haven’t finished a model in over 2 years now![:D]

I guess that’s be my big flaw, getting one done.
It is hard to be patient when you’re moving right along on one and have to let something cure or dry…[:p]

Probably weathering. I just really got into drybrushing somewhat recently and have noticed a marked improvement in the finished product. Now if I just can get the nerve to try some washes…

Filling & sanding seams, without a doubt. I try to avoid that whenever possible.
I just hate it. No matter how careful I am (or what I use) seams still tend to show through. Ugh. . . .

I have perfectionist syndrome. Everything I do has to be perfect so I find it very hard to ‘practice’ on models. If it’s not perfect the first time I get really discouraged or I hold off on building something or trying a technique because I need to learn every single thing about it.

Sounds like me Ray… i’m new to the hobby and havent finished a model yet and im already trying to plan how to do all this preshading and washes and panel lines that you guys speak of . I know I’m not going to do it but I want to learn everything about these things now.

Finishing one before starting on the next dozen.

I’d say my biggest flaw is not getting the seams filled and sanded. I’ve only recently been priming the seams to check them for problems before I paint the model. That has helped a lot. I also do not like painting road wheels on tanks. Too monotonous.

Mine is deliberating with myself over what to do or add to a kit. Do I detail this piece or not, the Panzer II F or G, add gear or not, grey or sand, western front or Africa, diorama or not, camo or not, etc…

Is it possible to put too much thought into a kit?

Mike

Deciding on the paint scheme.
Since I rarely paint the model the way it’s “supposed” to be, I tend to sit there for awhile and try and figure out what I want it to look like!
I usually end up with stripey camo schemes, I just can’t seem to do blotches…

Oh, yeah, and filling seams is a pain in the pa-toot, but it must be done!
