I did some searching here for info on modern USAF flight gear, but have not found besides Helicopter crew gear. I am building an ANG F-16C, and am not quite sure about the colors of the flight suit, survival gear, and helmet. Tamiya gives color callouts, but I suspect they may not be entirely accurate. Does anyone have decent (doesn’t have to be 100% accurate) color callouts for these items? I use Tamiya and Vallejo acrylics, so if there is a color in those ranges that would be perfect, and I can mix my own if needed. Are there any kind of color standards for these, such as FS callouts? The photos I see from my Google search seem different from photo to photo. TIA! [:D]
Most of the fabric items (flight suit, g suit, survival vest) are “sage green” in color. Like olive green/olive drab uniform items, there is variation in the colors, although the not as wide. The webbing items tend to be a slightly darker shade and also satin in appearance. The flight helmet is ghost gray (not sure which).
Thanks for the help fellas! Any ideas what paint you might use for a base color on the flight suits/gear?
SAC bomber green, slate, or a lighter greener shade of field gray are good starting points.
Thanks Carlos, that helps immensely! I do not have much experience with figures, so any help is greatly appreciated. [^]
The Nomex flight suits will very in color.
I have 3 used ones in my closet and non of them match.
One even gives off a metallic purple reflection.
If your going for an desert deplyment you can use tan.
