What is the Revell Basic Builder series ?

Hello

I saw a few kits like that from Revell : Basic Builder, with a low parts count and a big “molded in color” on the box.

What are they exactly ? Are they similar to Snap-Tite kits ?

Also, is there a list of all the models available somewhere ? So far I’ve seen some 1950’s cars and a 1982 Corvette.

it seems to be a random collection of skill 2 (requires paint and glue) of revell and monogram kits

Plymouth Prowler, 87 Ford Thunderbird, 57 Chevy, Ford Mustang 3 showcar, 55 Ford Pickup, 32 Ford.

Is that so ? Most disappointing then … [:(]

I was intrigued by the low parts count (the Corvette had less than 50 total !) and the fact that they are molded in color, whatever that means (different colors so you don’t have to paint ?)

Cause price wise, they are about the same as a normal kit.

I remember building a couple of the Basic Builder kits. They were molded in color reissues of kits mostly from the eighties and nineties. You still needed to paint details ; interior, engine and trim. Also as was the norm on older kits there were parting lines. There were a lot of lines on the Mustang Mark Three concept. After all of that sanding it was easier to just paint it.
