What is the one true scale?

I have just realised who Jim of Jim’s Models is. Might explain a lot.

But really Tomcat, might be time to take a chill pill. This is meant to be a hobby and its supposed to be fun. larger scales have there clais to better detail, or easier to see or more impressive. All we have is the One True Scale claim. Leave us that at least.

I don’t get all upset when some, many of who have probably never touched a 72nd kit, claim it lacks detail, is toy like, thrown together or just dismiss it as not a serious part of the hobby. I build 35th armour and 32nd aircraft as well as 72nd, no scale is exclusive. I have put my 72nd aircraft on tables next to larger scales and i certainly did not feel inferior to any of them.

And i can assure you that this was not thrown together, not in the 3 months it took.

Neither was this.

Or any of my others. I put as much love and effort into them as i do my 32nd and 35th builds.

Now if these are not your thing, thats fine. If you think they look silly or toyish, that ok, i won’t take it personally. Plenty have said they like them and i take their word for it. After all, they don’t have to say anything.

But the almost personal attacks against those who build 72nd are a bit silly really. Its the scale many young builders start at and without it we mght have many less people in this HOBBY.

Now, lets have some fun and build some models. What ever scale they are.

Yes, even those that are not THE ONE TRUE SCALE [;)]

Bish,

Nice job on thoes builds, I hadn’t see those before.
This is my latest 1/72 dio

I don’t think Tomcat was taking Jim’s side, rather he was just putting up a link offering a different point of view.
Jim does need to take a chill pill as you stated IMO. [;)]

Actually, that would only really matter if he turned out to be an elitist…[whstl]

IMHO…The only one true scale is full scale.[;)]

Could you imagine the shelf space you would need! [:D]

…yes…[:O][whstl]

I seem to recall the posibility of a 1/24 Fokker Triplane model being announced; would be a nice substitute for the old Revell 1/28 model. Dunno how many new subjects will be eventually issued in that scale. A Zeppelin Staaken R.VI in 1/24 might be a bit big for the average display case.[^o)]

1/24 sounds more like RC scale to me. [:D] If I’m going to build something THAT big, I might as well make it flyable!

Gary

Hi;

I believe it refers to whatever scale a modeler or model group chooses to work in . Mine is any scale . After all , it’s modeling isn’t it ?

The same is a problem in model railroading .

Tanker - Builder

“Three Scales for the Elven-kings under the sky,
Seven for the Dwarf-lords in halls of stone,
Nine for Mortal Men, doomed to die,
One for the Dark Lord on his dark throne
In the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie.
One Scale to rule them all, One Scale to find them,
One Scale to bring them all and in the darkness bind them.
In the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie.”

Now thats good! LOL

But what about:
“My Preciousssssssss” ? [whstl]

Is this where you say: “Go not to the E.L.V.E.S. (Extra Large Very Egocentric Society) of modelling for advice, for they will tell you your tiny scales lack detail and are thrown together like children’s toys”?

[A] (And let it be known that I have no particular favorite scale, though I find larger scales easier to wrap my big, clumsy fingers around.) [:D]
