What is the german tank in a bridge to far?

I take it they are trying to portray a king tiger in a bridge to far, but what is the acutal vehicle they kiped? I am under the understand ing that it is something like a leopard?

Yep, pretty sure it was a dressed up Leopard 1

OK thank you, that was all i really needed to know-i know about the funny shermans too, trucks, early, late, fireflys, HVSS, all sorts of funny sherms, and the ever popular dingos. thanks!

it was a leopard-1

At least the Shermans and the dingo are recognizable. Those ‘german’ tanks and armored cars are almost laughable. I chuckle at what the director was thinking about? I know…he was thinking of the bottom line…“how much is this gonna cost me?”

Glenn

some of the Shermans were mock-ups on VW chassis. There is one scene with Elliot Gould ("Roll the f*****s) where you see the tanks going by but the tracks aren’t moving

i will have to look in on that!

Me too!

Glenn

I’ll have to look for that next time I watch it.

ill have to look out for that too
its a great film, better than most that came out at that time, better than most out now

Very true
