I am installing a very heavy resin nose section to an F-4 and need to know what is the best adhesive to use to attach it to the styrene fuselage. I want to be able to blend the seams together so the glue will have to be workable but, yet strong as heck! Any ideas?
either CA (Super glue) or 5 minute epoxy
For that application I’d recommend the 5 minute epoxy. They key is that you want to move it around a little bit. With super glue once the two surfaces mate, your pretty well set.
If you want to use a CA/superglue, try a thick/gel variant. It will give you more time to allign the piece because of the slower drying time.
You might also want to install a 30 thou plastic card bulkhead at the front of the aircraft’s fuselage. this will give more contact area for the resin nose. And yes, I’d use gap-filling/ slow curing CA. This should give you ample working time.
Cheers,
Chris.
Thanks to all who have helped. I really appreciate it!
