What is the best ratio of thinner to black to use for detailing panel lines?
Also what is the best applying method that seems the best?
I`m detailing an EF111 and would like to get that “Hasegawa Catologue” look
Thanks

The wash should be thin, about like coffee. Exact ratio depends on your paint. I use mostly acrylics or artist watercolors. I prefer to apply the wash with a small pointed brush & let cappillary action do most of the work. Some prefer a sludge wash as it smears more & gives a more weathered effect. For the Hasegawa Catolog look, use a very dark grey, or black, & only accent the panel lines, no smudging outside the lines.

I like to use a draftsman’s pencil with a very sharp point. You can vary the pressure applied and the number of passes over a particular line to get some variety in how dark the lines are. Like nearly all highlighting and weathering, you need to apply a coat of clear over everything. Be very careful when running a pencil line across decals. Use a light pressure so that you don’t damage the decal. [alien]
