What is " Tac Idle " ?

Not related to modelling , but I have ran into the term " Tac Idle " , in reguards to M-1’s . What exactly is " Tac Idle " ? A means of making the tank quieter , and conserve fuel ? The Abrams is quiet , compared to a Leopard C-2 . Canadian here , we don’t have " Tac Idle " , on our Leo’s .

Tac Idle or Tactical Idle places the engine into a higher idle speed (increased RPMs) in preparation for combat while in a defensive position.

So in other words the engine is idling at a few hundred ‘extra’ rpm’s in case one has to ‘shoot and then scoot’?
